They should give Vlad the 2 Nats games off. Then he has 4 days off and can regroup.

He’s already out of the slump. Looked a lot better in Seattle

Not sure if a 4 game rest is needed. Maybe he should of been given days off once or twice a month the entire season.

Hit several balls above 110 in that series, a couple at 115, so yes looked better.

For a couple of weeks his top exit velocity each game seemed to be more like 95 to 105, which are more like .450 expected average hits, as opposed to the .900 his 110+ mph line drives and fly balls. are

Also no Ks the last 4 games and a bunch of hits and a bunch of walks. He’s good again

The best hitters in baseball still have slumps

They usually just don't last very long

And even with that said guys like Soto and Yellich have had slumps much longer than Vlad's

Must be a HR derby slump. Oh wait

What a dumb myth that is lol

No extra base hits on the road trip... Some hard hit balls on the ground and low line drives... a single off the wall in Seattle... better than a roller to the third basemen, but the single off the wall was a signature of Bad Vlad. 115 mph double play grounder, single off the wall, strike out, slow roller to the third basemen... that is the classic Bad Vlad day.

Vlad has hit several balls to the warning track and wall the past two weeks with nothing to show for it. Eventually those are going to fall in for hits or go over.

The problem is he doesn't pull the ball as much as say Semien... he uses the big part of the park more. He was hitting a bunch of those balls at about 95-100 mph, 385 feet or so, all to center or the gaps.

My understanding is that the expected average of a batted ball is calculated presuming the direction is random, but direction isn't completely random, different guys have different spray charts.

So the batted balls Vlad was hitting didn't have the same expected average as compared to if he pulled them more (like Semien does).

Of course we don't expected him to continue having no extra base hits at all and a .300 something slugging percentage (as has been the case for August).

If he keeps on hitting 385 foot fly balls he'll pull some, he won't hit 100% to center field. Presumably he'll also start getting more lift on some of his 110+ exit velo hits too. That's the hope anyway.

Quite honestly it just looks to me like his timing is off slightly. I have no problems with Vlad being more of a spray hitter than a dead pull hitter, the world knows he can yank any pitch on the inner half out of any park and you can see they pitch him differently because of it so he has to be able to handle the outer half without pulling. So far he's done fine with that approach. Hell, he took one oppo taco to Right centre in Fenway and that ain't a cheap HR. In fact the has 11 oppo HRs this year so far so I'm very much okay with that type of approach.

Semien has to sellout to the pull side to hit for power. Vlad doesn't.

I'm not advocating 'pull dat ball'. Just made the observation that over the last month Semien has pulled a bunch of 95-100 mph 380 foot drives for home runs and extra base hits, while Vlad has hit a bunch of similar 95=100 mph 385 foot drives to center for outs.

I do wonder if it's because Vlad is tiring or has a slight hand injury, thus isn't pulling the ball as much and is not hitting the balls to center with as much EV.

Will Vlad or Semien hit more homers the last quarter of the season?

I always dreamed he'd like hit Pujols and he sure has... it's like Albert Pujols career in a single season. 1st half the Cardinals part, second half the Angels part.

Vlad sucks. I hope Shatkins sells high before he becomes Prince Fielder 2.0.

Torkelson available?

This type of post will catch you a ban pretty quick.

Why? It’s not a troll post. Are we not allowed to criticize our players?

.254/.344/.449 since the All-Star break. Looks like he’s gained some weight back. And he keeps sulking nowadays.

Call it what you want, but he's been the best hitter in baseball this year, and saying he sucks is absurd nonsense.

Guerrero's contact and exit velocities will always be good because he has insane bat speed and hand eye coordination.

Lately he's rolling over on balls because his timing is off in his lower half, I suspect due to fatigue. He's also committing early to compensate which leads to even more ground balls.

Conditioning will ultimately determine Vlad's long term success or failure.

Yeah it’s crazy for how poo he’s been that’s he’s still #1 fantasy player

Vlad showed he had the talent early in his career. Struggled with more advanced players and fitness. Adjusted to the more advanced players but hasn't quite adjusted to the fitness aspects. He's a bum..

Trade him...💩🙄

That's a bit unfair. Vlad Guerrero has sucked for August, no question about that. Posters aren't allowed to vent on that? Because the narrative is that it is 100% certain that Vlad won't go down the same road as Cody Bellinger?

Also. Will he finish the year as the best hitter in baseball? Juan Soto may have already passed him. I am guessing Ohtani and Matt Olson will pass him.

Potentially he finishes the year behind Olson, if Olson finishes well and Vlad continues to slump. May not even win the silver slugger at first, pretty disappointing after the start.

There is no narrative like that. That's in your head.
