Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 That's probably it for Nate. Bad games happen to the best of them.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 Agreed. I wonder if it's mostly nerves? Could be. He threw 98 on the second or third pitch of the game. Maybe he just didn’t have confidence in his command today and is focusing on trying to keep the ball in the zone.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 This start for him in theory decides whether he makes the rotation or not. It's a tough lineup in a historic park so despite the game meaning nothing for the standings it probably means quite a bit to him. He's likely nervous.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2020 Author Posted July 22, 2020 Get those butterflies out of the system now when the games don't count. Atkins salivating on that extra year of control.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2020 Author Posted July 22, 2020 Jordan Romano warming up instead of Borucki?
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2020 Author Posted July 22, 2020 Another base hit by Teoscar edit: and there goes Fisher.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2020 Author Posted July 22, 2020 Nice slider 86mph by Nate. Edit: Filthy 83 backdoor slider for the K on Vazquez
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 Nice slider 86mph by Nate. Edit: Filthy 83 backdoor slider for the K Those two were nasty.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 Nate's going after it since his rocky first. Absolutely blew that by Verdugo.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2020 Author Posted July 22, 2020 Jansen safe on Biggio sac fly! 4-1 Red Sox.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2020 Author Posted July 22, 2020 Big Nate reached back for 98 MPH for that K on Verdugo
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 He was starting to pitch well so they had to take him out.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 Even though it means very little, it was nice to see Pearson settle in and rebound beautifully the way he did.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 Solid outing by Pearson. Minus a few ABs. Really came on towards the end
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 Big Nate reached back for 98 MPH for that K on Verdugo Was nice for sure. Perfect start for Atkins as well. Allowed enough runs to justify the 7 days before the call-up, and enough promise with the swing and miss ability and location of the breaking pitches.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 Romano coming in hot. Gas and a disgusting slider, wow.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 I think I like baseball more without fans. Of the 5 minutes of the game that I watched, I didn't have a problem with no fans either. I think it will be more noticeable in basketball, but in baseball, regular season crowds are typically mild anyway, so pump in some fake background noise and you barely notice a difference.
Ray Verified Member Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 That slider by Romano was something else
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2020 Author Posted July 22, 2020 Romano coming in hot. Gas and a disgusting slider, wow. He looks lights-out, very impressive.

I mean its really weird to see Fenway empty but once we get to Tampa it feel normal. I wonder if they will pipe in that heckler. Just play the old Hinske and Rios audio.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2020 Author Posted July 22, 2020 here comes Borucki, first pitch 93 mph. Cutter 88 mph for flyout. edit: 94 MPH swish on Benintendi, good sign. 95 MPH down the middle, knock on the green monster.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 JD Martinez, 2-run oppo Really wasn't a bad pitch either.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 Aceucki ST, still has a ways to go to catch Nate...
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 On a serious note, Borucki's stuff looks pretty decent. Good hitters are just hitting some of it, it happens.
