King Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 https://www.mlb.com/news/30-stars-compete-in-mlb-the-show-players-league This is unreal Kudos to MLB for putting this together AL East: Bo Bichette (Blue Jays), Dwight Smith Jr. (Orioles), Blake Snell (Rays), Eduardo Rodriguez (Red Sox), Tommy Kahnle (Yankees). AL Central: Carlos Santana (Indians), Brett Phillips (Royals), Niko Goodrum (Tigers), Trevor May (Twins), Lucas Giolito (White Sox). AL West: Ty Buttrey (Angels), Lance McCullers (Astros), Jesús Luzardo (A’s), Carl Edwards Jr. (Mariners), Joey Gallo (Rangers). NL East: Luke Jackson (Braves), Ryne Stanek (Marlins), Jeff McNeil (Mets), Juan Soto (Nationals), Rhys Hoskins (Phillies). NL Central: Josh Hader (Brewers), Matt Carpenter (Cardinals), Ian Happ (Cubs), Cole Tucker (Pirates), Amir Garrett (Reds). NL West: Jon Duplantier (D-backs), Gavin Lux (Dodgers), Hunter Pence (Giants), Fernando Tatis Jr. (Padres), David Dahl (Rockies). The players will play 29 games, one against each other participant, over the next three weeks. Each game will be three innings, giving the players an opportunity to play multiple games in one day. Every game will have its own individual online stream. MLB Network talents Robert Flores and Heidi Watney will provide transitions between the games. Standings and stats will be generated daily on www.mlb.com/playersleague, with season-end awards scheduled after the regular season. The top eight players will advance to the postseason, which are scheduled to begin on April 30. In the postseason, the Division and Championship Series will be a best-of-three. The World Series will be a best-of-five battle to determine the first champion.
King Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2020 Author Posted April 10, 2020 3 inning games is some ******** Yea I think that's dumb. 5 or 7 inning games would be a lot better.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 Yeah this is a nice move by MLB. Jumping on the Esports bandwagon especially at a time like this is only going to help the league. I would have liked some bigger names in this tournament, or at least more charismatic personalities (Baez, Lindor, Anderson, Harper, etc), but they do have some really young stars in there (Soto, Tatis, and Bichette) so it's a start. Agreed that 3 innings is too short. I think 5 innings would have been more reasonable. I remember reading MLB were setting up a Esports league in China, but they really should do one in the States (if they haven't already).
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 3 inning games is some ******** I don't think anyone would watch if they were 5+ inning games. They're making the games short enough for people to tune in but not be bored and click off, while also having the possibility of multiple games in a day.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 So who plays tonight? https://www.mlb.com/playersleague#schedule
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 I can always count on you Mr. Spanky.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 I know he’s not popular on this site for some reason but this would have been a perfect place for Stroman. He’s outgoing, can appeal to a young demo, and would probably hold people’s attention by just being himself. Missed opportunity.
Beans Verified Member Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 I'll never understand the appeal of watching people play video games
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 I'll never understand the appeal of watching people play video games It's like watching people play sports.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 This is the best baseball i have seen all month.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 Amir Garrett wins on a bunt. I'll take it.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 This has to be one of the funniest things I’ve seen recently. Bo using himself to homer off McCullers (also using himself) and making McCullers take himself out of the game.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 Bo looking to clinch a playoff spot tonight. Video... of his B2B2B!!! https://www.mlb.com/video/bo-bichette-s-3-straight-homers?t=video-games
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2020 Posted April 28, 2020 Did Bo Bichette just ended another man’s career?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2020 Posted April 28, 2020 Did Bo Bichette just ended another man’s career? lol
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2020 Posted April 29, 2020 Bichette might actually win this thing
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 Anyone know how we can watch this other than FS1? I watched the first night and they had links on Twitch and Youtube, decided it sucks aside from recaps and player reactions... now I want to follow Bo in the playoffs, lol. https://www.mlb.com/playersleague Thanks in advance!
