Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 Next big problem for the MLB is that the Os are going to be investigated for giving signs to the other team. Bad time for the MLB.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 Right - his "son" must have been confused and unable to remember what role his Dad played on the team. Manny Acta and Mike do look similar. No need to question the validity of this tweet at all. Yeah, it kinda sorta entirely throws the claim out the window since Alex Cora was in Boston the next year (2018) lol.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 Getting your site some clicks, Clint, lol. Just post the tweet bruh. These would have been much harder to detect if they were implanted anally.

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 80 game suspensions in 3, 2, 1...
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 80 game suspensions in 3, 2, 1... Even if there's any truth to these rumours it'd need the MLB investigation to be reopened to give additional bans. It does make that decision look even worse though.
abola2121 Verified Member Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 This makes that whole "Man in White" debacle even funnier in retrospect.
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 This makes that whole "Man in White" debacle even funnier in retrospect. That whole thing was idiotic and nonsensical.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 This makes that whole "Man in White" debacle even funnier in retrospect. Yeah. It's better to use low tech techniques lmao
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 80 game suspensions in 3, 2, 1... Jose Altuve owners panicking right now.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 Man this is all so f***ing pathetic. f***.
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 How can they possibly have enough time to communicate that a fastball is coming. Calling ******** on this
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 How can they possibly have enough time to communicate that a fastball is coming. Calling ******** on this There's usually a few seconds between the time a pitcher agrees on a pitch and he starts to deliver the ball. All they have to communicate, really, is fastball or off-speed pitch. There's plenty of time to hit a button to do that.
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 These would have been much harder to detect if they were implanted anally. Speaking from experience?

Calling ******** on this Buzzer is triggered by someone seeing the signs from center field. 1 Buzz = fastball 2 Buzz = offspeed No buzz = no info Not rocket science.
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 Buzzer is triggered by someone seeing the signs from center field. 1 Buzz = fastball 2 Buzz = offspeed No buzz = no info Not rocket science. Yeah plenty of time.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 MLB has taken such a beating in the last 20 years. Massive black eye for the sport.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 80 game suspensions in 3, 2, 1... I'll believe that when I see it. If they even open the investigation and deal out suspensions nobody will get even close to 80 games.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 Jose Altuve owners panicking right now. Nah.
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 80 game suspensions in 3, 2, 1... Honestly doubt it.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 Now Mike trout is getting pulled into this s***. By nobody of relevance but I think we have some players that might need their thyroid checked out

It does make that decision look even worse though. MLB already investigated the buzzer thing and found no evidence of it. They didn't need to wait until someone pretending to be Beltran's niece posted s*** on Twitter.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 The worst thing is that people will blame this on the reason baseball is suffering and nothing will change with their marketing

You could possibly warn of inside/outside too though the catcher doesnt show that until after the pitch sign so it might be difficult
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 The worst thing is that people will blame this on the reason baseball is suffering and nothing will change with their marketing Agree, MLB seems like it does not know what they are doing with the sport?
Beans Verified Member Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 (edited) How can they possibly have enough time to communicate that a fastball is coming. Calling ******** on this Just signalling whether it's offspeed is enough. They were mostly taking the offspeed pitches they knew were coming, because more often than not those pitches end up being balls, and teeing up on the fastballs. Edited January 17, 2020 by Beans
glory Old-Timey Member Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 The worst thing is that people will blame this on the reason baseball is suffering and nothing will change with their marketing Baseball was suffering even before this stuff came out so I would hope no one blames baseball's issues on this scandal. They are making record revenues but popularity in the sport seems to dwindle every year. The funny thing is, MLB has actually gotten more mainstream buzz with this scandal than they have for anything I can recall in the last 5-10 years. I don't even know if it's a good or bad thing at this point. If any sport needs to be talked about in the mainstream it is MLB, but obviously not for the best reasons. I think the worst thing to come out of this is that it robbed MLB of a Yankees/Dodgers World Series. That would have been a huge boon for baseball.

Every headline they had before this was also a bad look for the sport, going back to last year. I mean, not as bad as this, but take everything that's happened this week, then add the juiced balls they recently held a presser to address, previous sign-stealing scandals still coming out in investigations/reporting (half the articles remind us of when the Red Sox used an Apple Watch), and the bogus claims that blew up a couple months ago of teams colluding to suppress player salaries. s*** is not looking good for MLB right now.
