jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2019 Posted September 4, 2019 I don't understand how fans are that dumb, happens way too often
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2019 Posted September 4, 2019 The Alford fan boys get their dose.
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2019 Posted September 4, 2019 Lol Alford. Looked awful there. That said, just 1 AB. We'll see how those peripherals look after this month. I'll be keeping an eye on the K rate specifically.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2019 Posted September 4, 2019 Alford has had K issues in AAA for two years. Even if he turns into a contributor, he is likely going to K a s*** ton. He needs consistent playing time, but he's so prone to injury it's going to be hard to rely on him. He's out of options after this season so I'm guessing he will be the 4th OF in 2020. Hopefully he shows a 4th OF skill set at the very least.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2019 Posted September 4, 2019 Mayza's been pretty bad, lately.

The K rate isn't even the most alarming issue, he can strike out 30% of the time for all I care, he's just not producing anything the rest of the time either. A 95 wRC+ in his second full season in AAA is awful, and he's now 25 years old, the walk rate wasn't anything special at all, plus the power (.159 ISO) was brutal considering they are now using the juiced ball. People here love to rag on Fisher and McKinney but those guys have at least consistently hit well in all levels of the minors including AAA, and they were younger than Alford when doing so. Alford's gonna need to s*** house his way to an 80-85 wRC+ at the major league level if he wants any sort of opportunity going forward.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2019 Posted September 4, 2019 f*** we need to sign a few free agent bats next year, one who can play CF. Time to move on from the scrub experiments.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2019 Posted September 4, 2019 Pete Alonso hit his 44th, incredible.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2019 Posted September 4, 2019 Managers, when the calendar flips over to September, are like kids in a candy store. Must. Use. Everybody.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2019 Posted September 4, 2019 Could the Jays please ditch this opener ********. I've never liked it Thats how you beat the shift Tabby - is that you? Not liking the opener simply because you'd prefer watching strong starters navigate themselves through 7 innings is one thing (and perfectly acceptable). Not liking it because it's different and you don't understand the strategy is another (and a completely ignorant one)
