Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 f*** you Montoyo, benching Vlad during fantasy playoffs. Fire this guy.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 why is fisher not playing again...is he hurt?
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 why is fisher not playing again...is he hurt? Ankle, day to day.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 So Donaldson looked uncomfortable on the breaking stuff last week in Toronto and buckled on the 0-1 curve ball he took for a strike today, but an 0-2 four seam fastball was thrown for some strange reason instead of burying another curve to at least set up the fastball.
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 What has McKinney shown that indicates he should get any playing time?
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 212/265/411 Still getting lots of playing time just bc he was acquired in a trade that Atkins wont let go of

Yeah it's baffling....at first i thought he just missed his spot and didn't elevate but on the replay Jansen was setup dead centre.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 What has McKinney shown that indicates he should get any playing time? Absolutely nothing. I'd rather give the playing time to Jonathan Davis or Anthony Alford just to see if they show signs at sticking in a back up role, as at least they bring a defensive presence/base running ability while they'd be here. McKinney is total mediocre AAA fodder trash.

McKinney is total mediocre AAA fodder trash. And he isnt even good defensively. It's not like he can be a 4th outfielder he can only play left field Even the metrics are not strong

I think i prefer McGuire's presence behind the plate over Jansen, not that Jansen is horrible. I like the makings of a strict platoon with the two, or until the likes of Moreno, Kirk or Adams start breaking down the door.

Ex Player Verified Member Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 Its high time the NL adopted the designated hitter
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 Oh look, we've been blessed in watching Grichuk hit third in the order. $50 million reasons why we are stuck watching him play everyday and bat high in the lineup. Somehow, Kevin Pillar is hitting better than him this year. Hopefully this is just a down season (like Smoak in 2016 after his extension) rather than a sign of things to come. Hitting like crap for 3 months and then getting hot in July/August is already getting old.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 Oh look, we've been blessed in watching Grichuk hit third in the order. Ahem
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 Ahem Lol.. He always does it to me when i criticize him.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 Oh look, we've been blessed in watching Grichuk hit third in the order. Blessed indeed
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 Ahem Blessed indeed You guys good with Grichuk batting in the top 5 moving forward into next season?
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 You guys good with Grichuk batting in the top 5 moving forward into next season? Considering he projects as a top 5 hitter for us, which includes Smoak, yeah.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 I'm good with a Blackmon type of hitter in the 5 spot.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 You guys good with Grichuk batting in the top 5 moving forward into next season? No lol I'm no Grichuk fan. Just funny and a coincidence that you posted that, just messing with you.
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 Drury is awfulHim and McKinney...can't wait until they are gone.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 Considering he projects as a top 5 hitter for us, which includes Smoak, yeah. Imo, you can't have a sub .300 OBP bat in the top five. Grichuk's power is intriguing though, but he's better suited batting seventh with the door open for batting sixth if he performs well.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 Since the start of the 2016 season (not counting today), Grichuk has a 99 wRC+ in 1919 plate appearances. I mean, a league average hitter with good defence is a decent player, but not someone I'd want batting anywhere near the top of the lineup, especially when his OBP is so bad. Of course the Jays hitters are young/not established yet, so where he fits in the current lineup is debatable. If everyone is healthy, I'd say 6th is the highest I'd put him (Bo-Biggio-Vlad-Gurriel-Smoak being ahead of him). I'm still holding out hope that he somehow breaks out next year unexpectedly like Smoak did. I remember reading they were tinkering with his swing, so maybe that might explain some of the down season, but it's not like he's going anywhere, so hope for the best.
