Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2019 Posted September 1, 2019 Right gown the middle missed it. Good pitchers throw balls down the middle all the time. Their ability to get swinging strikes within the zone is why they are able to keep those walk totals so low.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2019 Posted September 1, 2019 From behind his little bubble of protection. What a brave little bitch.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2019 Posted September 1, 2019 Old school starters like Verlander are so much more fun to watch than all the opener BS around the league. You know when you give him the ball you have a great chance of winning and that he will go deep into the game (umpiring permitting). Glad to see pitchers like him still exist.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2019 Author Posted September 1, 2019 At least if the Jays are gonna get no hit, it'll be from an absolutely dominating performance by one of the best pitchers in our generation. Not some lucky James Paxton style ********. That's twice by JV.

That’s not a fair comparison though. An opener isn’t taking the start of an ace, he’s taking the start of a back of the rotation starter. Obviously Verlander is more fun to watch than say Clay Buchholtz.

DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2019 Posted September 1, 2019 Lol. Like about 10000 others off of verlander at 96 when you have to respect his other filth. Well we just saw more history from one of the best I’ll ever see. Ya don't say captain obvious...I never said otherwise rain man

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2019 Posted September 1, 2019 Damn, wish I hadn't missed this game. I remember Verlander's last no hitter against us. It was magical in the 8th and 9th innings when he was averaging triple digits.
Jaysareus Verified Member Posted September 1, 2019 Posted September 1, 2019 At least one bunt should have been attempted
FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted September 1, 2019 Posted September 1, 2019 At least one bunt should have been attempted I thought Biggio would have. His dad would have done it.

Good on Verlander for reviving his career from a few years ago, I guess that’s what the great pitchers do once the velocity isn’t quite there anymore.

Except that in Verlander's case, the fastball velocity hasn't really gone anywhere.
