glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 The Yankees are to hitters what the Astros are to pitchers. I wouldn't read too much into it. Maybin has a 150 wRC+. The Yankees just know how to turn hitters around. The issue is, the Jays don't seem to know how to do that with hitters or pitchers, at least not yet. That needs to change.

We do that to pitchers.... relief pitchers! We can turn a middling or downtrodden RP into a rosterable (or better!) asset like nobodies business! Clippard Oh Grilli Joe Smith Giles Hudson Axford Phelps (ok that's a stretch)
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 The worst part about waiver claims are the posters who feel the need to point out that the player is probably going to suck. Like, dude is making less than a million dollars, had literally zero trade value, and made it past multiple teams on waivers. We f***ing know he’s almost certainly going to suck. It doesn’t need to be said. The only thing worth talking about in these moves are the skills that give the player a chance to maybe contribute, even though he probably won’t. Did you guys know that when you buy a lottery ticket you're probably not going to win? PSA: When you apply for a job, someone else is probably going to get it. Don't even bother following the draft, because most of those prospects are going to fail. These posts deserved far more likes. 'Twas good.
