Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Yea he was clearly out on those replays. Caught plenty of jersey before his foot touched home. Really bad slide. Bo can learn from that one
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Wow. Sanchez was taken out after only 92 pitches while throwing a no hitter
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Wow. Sanchez was taken out after only 92 pitches while throwing a no hitter Apparently there might have been a blister.
M.E. Verified Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Probably the first time he has been in a call with replay. Hope he learned the lesson that he has to get his foot down.
Jaysareus Verified Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 That bad slide wasn't as bad as Guerreros bonehead play at third
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Mods should be banning Boxcar. Making a joke thread about a forum regular dying?? Seriously what the f*** mods.
BillyTheKid Verified Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Fisher lmfao Lmfao Fisher What a f***ing nerd WTF Fisher? Holy s*** that was brutal. Wtf Fish It's bad enough Biggio isn't playing to make room for trash, Drury gets the nod to come in for Fisher. Fisher is getting it out of his system, LOL I am not sure who to laugh at more here: Fisher or that shmuck Atkins (what a loser) Fisher leaves game after fly ball lands on his face. Not a good start to this trade. I guess it was the same scouts that gave the thumbs up to Hanson/Brito and now Fisher...
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 That should have been a head first slide.
Superdood Verified Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Bad send by Rivera, worse slide by Bichette. At least the game is tied though.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Sanchez goes 6 hitless innings with 6 K and 2 BB. And fisher tries to catch a ball with his face. Atkins can’t catch a break.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Apparently there might have been a blister. In the 5th he kept glancing at his hand:confused:
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 That should have been a head first slide. Yeah, although you don't want to be sliding head first into home.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Yeah, although you don't want to be sliding head first into home. Probably not so bad now that catchers can't block it, but I still don't want to see it.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Probably not so bad now that catchers can't block it, but I still don't want to see it. They can still block the plate once they catch the ball.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Probably not so bad now that catchers can't block it, but I still don't want to see it. Yeah, the "can't block the plate" rule was part of my reason for wanting a head first slide there. Honestly, he's probably safe if he just ran through the plate and didn't slide at all.

I'd rather him be out there in this game that means nothing over risking an injury there.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 They can still block the plate once they catch the ball. Well, yeah, but not easily if they have to get all the way across. I'm just as happy to see our guys going in there feet first anyway, even if it means the odd out.

It's definitely not as bad now that the catcher has to provide a lane, but once he catches the ball, he can jump back in leading with his shin guards. Fingers can break real easy doing that.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 The O's are allowed to win one out of every three games...this may be one of them.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Buddy Boshers who I didn’t know existed before tonight really sucks.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Buddy Boshers who I didn’t know existed before tonight really sucks. Fortunately, so does the O's pen.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Did Buck just call our catcher Mark McGwire? Lol
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 I know Fangraphs is meh on Gurriel's defense (probably because of how deep he's playing), but it certainly passes the eye test.

I'm not really buying their fielding metrics with such a small sample. I agree that hr looks really solid out there.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Holy f*** Vlad. He crushes balls at 110 and we yawn. Making it normal. Nice!
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2019 Author Posted August 4, 2019 115.5 mph single from vlad
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Vlad still crushing balls!!!

He rates about average or slightly above by both UZR and DRS, and like you said definitely passes the eye test. That's an awesome outcome for his first season there with limited reps. By next season when he's comfortable and starts off at normal positions we could really see his defensive numbers stand out, assuming he doesn't regress.
