King Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 I went away because this board has a lot of unsufferable personalities like you. Got too old to be bothered wasting time with miserable cocky kids. Lot of good posters here too I wanted to share the deadline with. Clearly the Jays should be getting more than Fisher and they are. Dont worry bud Ill be gone again soon. f*** Off back to reddit!
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Relievers like Biagini emerge from the scrap heap every year for literally nothing, Sanchez also f***ing sucks, you can't bank on his potential every goddamn year when nothing happens These guys are non-factors EDIT: Why do guys on this board still give a s*** about Aaron Sanchez, he's literally the worst starter in baseball this year. This is absolutely mind boggling and all of you doing so should be ashamed of yourselves You're no better than the Blue Jays fan page. Aaron Sanchez is going to win the World Series for the Astros from the bullpen, haha. Seriously though, his value is as low as it gets right now - holding onto him and turning him into a reliever wouldn’t have been the worst thing in the world.
jerb Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Ben Nicholson-Smith @bnicholsonsmith Just Fisher coming back to #blueJays per source
Thaddeus Malice Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 I know everyone hates Sanchez, but Houston obviously thinks they can make something of him. I don't even really mind the return, it doesn't seem like he was ever going to turn it around here. Fisher may be decent. I'm just not sure why it seems we had to toss in a prospect as well?
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Man, if they threw in Cal Stevenson just to get Fisher alone... that will be impossible to defend. I'll definitely try until my final breath to defend it, but it will be impossible and I will fail.
fireballW Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Do you think his last three starts should’ve boosted his value when there are like 400 innings stating he sucks? No we don’t need pitching for the rest of the year. This is tank nation. All I heard during spring training was how we needed room in the rotation to see what the kids can do. Well now we finally get our chance. If you think he will be that bad going forward then I guess we should have kept him for the tank nation then.
SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Ben Nicholson-Smith @bnicholsonsmith Just Fisher coming back to #blueJays per source That can't be correct
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Sanchez just said he expects to remain a starter. There's going to be some interesting discussions between him and Houston management very shortly.

A pitcher with a sub 10% Swstk rate is probably not going to be a good reliever.
lovemyjays Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 wtf.... so we threw in cal stevenson and fisher is still the only piece coming back??? nah this can't be right
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 So like how was Cal Stevenson included here? Luhnow wanted Sanchez and Biagini on his roster for the stretch, and was willing to part with Fisher, but absolutely refused to make the trade unless mildly interesting low-minors prospect Cal Stevenson was thrown in? Ross Atkins must be awful at poker.

But yeah it’s best to just shake your head and don’t fall for the bait.
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Brb going to barf. Some one tell me he is wrong That we had to include Cal Stevenson, for scrap garbage.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 That can't be correct It can't possibly be... That would be the worst trade since the Native Americans sold Manhatten for some beads and plague blankets...
Ex Player Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Brb going to barf That has to be the worst trade in human history!!!
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 There has to be some misunderstanding here, BNS doesn't know what he is talking about.

rydermike Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 If I am correct, the only guy left on the whole Team from 2015/2016 playoff runs is Smoak.. Pompey and Devon Travis too Barnes and Tepera as well
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Sanchez just said he expects to remain a starter. There's going to be some interesting discussions between him and Houston management very shortly. There is virtually no chance he starts in their playoff rotation.
43211234 Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Holy s*** yikes. Atkins is officially complete trash at trades
KevinGregg Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 guess that closes the book on this deadline. Pretty disappointing day. In the end we got some good value for guys who weren't part of the big picture. Giles remains an enigma.. still a chance we get some actually good prospect for him in the offseason if he continues to light it up for the next two months
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Maybe because you block people who disagree with you. Nah mate, I only block *******s and trolls.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 There is virtually no chance he starts in their playoff rotation. There's virtually no chance he starts in their non-playoff one either.

Slade Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Author Posted July 31, 2019 Ok Biagini and Sanchez for Fisher is a hard pill to swallow but we had to give up more prospects? 3 years control on Biagini and 1.5 years on Sanchez not enough for Fisher? This is just a bad trade.
Thaddeus Malice Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Like I don't understand the inclusion of Cal Stevenson in this deal? Why would we possibly need to toss him in to complete it? These are the types of little things in making trades that make me feel like Atkins is not very good at negotiating.
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 I keep looking at Fishers Fangraphs page, thinking I have missed some important detail.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 I'm not defending you this time Shatkins
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 The initial return was light and then the Jays gave up a decent prospect as well lol. I’m sorry but Stevenson as a throw in is probably better than any prospect we received in any other trade outside of the Stroman trade the last 2 seasons. f***ing yikes man.
