BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Not fair. We all know who is the derby king tonight. Vladdy vs Joc Peterson was the real final round
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 It won't happen but the league should give Vladdy a mil as well. He won this s***, not Alonso.
ComeTogether Verified Member Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Hope he wins it next yr. Get one like his daddy.
rydermike Verified Member Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Alonso came 6thin round 1 and 3rd in round 2. Wins title
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Sportsnet reported yesterday that he was replacing Stro but it appears that there was a change. You say you study bugs, but it looks like you study weasels more.
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Vlad vs Pederson 2 needs to happen
43211234 Verified Member Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Shoutout to John Schneider who was excellent throwing to Vladdy
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Bring back total HR'S per round, not one on one. Top 4 advance in first round, then top 2, and then final. It makes zero sense Vladdy losing with a 91-57 advantage. WHAT THE f***

WHAT THE f*** I don't have a problem with the current format in general, but maybe if two guys are tied in a round they could both advance to prevent fatigue being such an issue.

If the format was proper, Vladdy and Pederson would be in the finals.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Alonso advanced the first round by hitting 14 HR'S. THAT'S A JOKE
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Ok to everyone saying its “not fair”, no. Thats BS. Alonso would have hit a lot more but he hit 2nd every time, so he stopped. HE NEVER EVEN USED THE EXTRA 30 SECONDS. That’s an extra 1:30 of time he didn’t even use. Vlad used all his time, AND had an extra minute, and another 3 homers from the sudden death OT. The only thing that was “unfair” was the fact that Vladdy was super tired and Alonso wasn’t. But Alonso gets to have that advantage because he is #2 seed with 30 homers in the season so far. Vlad only has 8. This was not “unfair”
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Did I dream this or did Alex Rios almost win the homerun derby for the Jay's Did that happen. I feel like it did
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Pretty big indictment of baseball that people just wanted one of these guys to win so they’d get paid. $550k for these two for the next two years is ridiculous.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 If the format was proper, Vladdy and Pederson would be in the finals. You can’t say that because Alonso didn’t even use his extra time.
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Mind f***ing blown The year vlad sr won rios came in second and hit more home runs than hin

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Everybody should be battling against each other, not this head to head ********. The format should be like the 3-point shooting contest in the NBA.

The format should be like the 3-point shooting contest in the NBA. Agreed, everyone should hit the full 4 minutes and the 4 with the highest totals move on. Then the next 2 with the highest total. Then last round is head to head like it is now.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 He crushes the previous record by 30 home runs and loses...that’s some typical Jays luck right there. Yep, everyone saw the true HR Derby champion....Vladito!!!!!

Totally, Guererro hit a bunch of balls that came up short in the final round, which he probably would have hit out if he had not tired himself out to get there. Alonso absolutely lucked out. Oh well, if he plays up to his abilities Guererro will get his millions soon enough.

The format should be like the 3-point shooting contest in the NBA. TBF they changed it from that format because it took ages and was boring as s***. The knockout is more exciting, but seeding most homers against least should be used after the first round.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Vlad will win. Unless he runs out of gas because he's fat. Yup. He looked so out of shape in the final round. TBF anyone would have been tired after hitting that many homers in the earlier rounds though.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Yup. He looked so out of shape in the final round. TBF anyone would have been tired after hitting that many homers in the earlier rounds though. Yeah, Acuna looked completely gassed after the second round, and he didn't take nearly as many swings.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Yeah, Acuna looked completely gassed after the second round, and he didn't take nearly as many swings. I was so close to a perfect bracket... had Vlad beating Alonso, missed the longest HR by 5 feet, had it at 493 to 488. Vlad was phenomenal.
Rusty_Savage Verified Member Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 I don't really care who actually won, Vlad stole the show either way and it doesn't really mean much of anything. It was exciting as f*** and thats all that really matters. I can't remember the last time I watched a derby from start to finish. Good for a Tuesday hangover
Ex Player Verified Member Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 LOL @ those who thought Vladdie didnt belong in the derby

Enough of grandma's cooking, lose 15 pounds and maybe you'll have a little more stamina and not run out of gas in the home run derby next year.

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Anybody would be tired... I wasn't really being serious. I was just pointing out the obvious. Vlad needs to lose 15 pounds!
