Bring back total HR'S per round, not one on one. Top 4 advance in first round, then top 2, and then final.

 

It makes zero sense Vladdy losing with a 91-57 advantage.

I don't have a problem with the current format in general, but maybe if two guys are tied in a round they could both advance to prevent fatigue being such an issue.

If the format was proper, Vladdy and Pederson would be in the finals.

Ok to everyone saying its “not fair”, no. Thats BS.

 

Alonso would have hit a lot more but he hit 2nd every time, so he stopped. HE NEVER EVEN USED THE EXTRA 30 SECONDS. That’s an extra 1:30 of time he didn’t even use.

 

Vlad used all his time, AND had an extra minute, and another 3 homers from the sudden death OT.

 

The only thing that was “unfair” was the fact that Vladdy was super tired and Alonso wasn’t. But Alonso gets to have that advantage because he is #2 seed with 30 homers in the season so far. Vlad only has 8.

Pretty big indictment of baseball that people just wanted one of these guys to win so they’d get paid. $550k for these two for the next two years is ridiculous.

The format should be like the 3-point shooting contest in the NBA.

Agreed, everyone should hit the full 4 minutes and the 4 with the highest totals move on. Then the next 2 with the highest total. Then last round is head to head like it is now.

Totally, Guererro hit a bunch of balls that came up short in the final round, which he probably would have hit out if he had not tired himself out to get there. Alonso absolutely lucked out. Oh well, if he plays up to his abilities Guererro will get his millions soon enough.

TBF they changed it from that format because it took ages and was boring as s***. The knockout is more exciting, but seeding most homers against least should be used after the first round.

Yup. He looked so out of shape in the final round. TBF anyone would have been tired after hitting that many homers in the earlier rounds though.

Yeah, Acuna looked completely gassed after the second round, and he didn't take nearly as many swings.

I was so close to a perfect bracket... had Vlad beating Alonso, missed the longest HR by 5 feet, had it at 493 to 488. :P

 

Vlad was phenomenal. :eek:

I don't really care who actually won, Vlad stole the show either way and it doesn't really mean much of anything. It was exciting as f*** and thats all that really matters.

 

I can't remember the last time I watched a derby from start to finish. Good for a Tuesday hangover

this is all good news....dude you wanna cash in that million dollar cheque next year? Enough of grandma's cooking, lose 15 pounds and maybe you'll have a little more stamina and not run out of gas in the home run derby next year.
