gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 I met Jesse Barfield when I was working at the CDN baseball hall of fame in Ontario Place back in the 1980's. Coolest guy you'll ever meet, absolutely no attitude I met Lloyd Moseby after a game at the Ex in '83 I believe. Super nice guy also, actually talks to you, not through you. I also remember he was a lot bigger than I thought and from what you see on TV.
Ray Verified Member Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Teoscars routes look slightly better in CF than the corners.

I also remember he was a lot bigger than I thought and from what you see on TV I also met Phil Marchildon (RIP) at the HOF. He told stories of facing Ted Williams and how he could almost never get him out. He also served in WW2. I got his autograph on a napkin but lost it while moving. Aannndd.........NERD POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
glory Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Kind of how I feel about the Atkins extension Should have waited until after the trade deadline. To me, this next month and a half will be the most important in Atkins' tenure. What he gets for Stroman and Giles (and to a lesser extent Sanchez) is going to be critical. If he bombs on the trade returns, then having him around for another year or two will be prolonging the inevitable. If he succeeds, then he gains more leeway and maybe the team's rebuild starts to look a little more promising. Doing it now shows more faith in him than he probably deserves at this point, but whatever.

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Is Sogard under control or a free agent at years end? Free agent next year, but I'm sure we could afford the sandwich it would cost to bring him back...
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Did they just say Hinske is the manager of the Diamondbacks?
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Y'know, with the stuff he has, Elvis might be a solid #3 for the 2021 rotation. Lemme clarify. I feel that Elvis right now is about on par with Edwin Jackson right now, but one is trending down, and one is 19 and hopefully trending up....
Ex Player Verified Member Posted June 7, 2019 Author Posted June 7, 2019 How the heck did Smoak not end up at 2nd base??
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Smoak should have at least been at second on that. I mean, I get it, but damn.

Ex Player Verified Member Posted June 7, 2019 Author Posted June 7, 2019 Here comes Chapman with his 100mph fastball *grabs popcorn*
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Not gonna lie, I like Teo's skillset against Chapman. We might see a 120MPH EV here... It might be a ground ball double play, but DAT EV...

You might be right, but he's not looking outclassed by MLB hitters right now. But I want to see him as a starter then next time he's in the bigs.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Dang. That was a nice turn on that GB. I thought we might touch up Chapman tonight.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Chapman's slider is so filthy, it shouldn't be fair that a guy that throws that hard also has another wipeout pitch that's 13-16 mph slower.
Ex Player Verified Member Posted June 7, 2019 Author Posted June 7, 2019 Oh man, bad luck. I thought Teoscar's grounder might sneak in for a single, and then Galvis lines out. Chapman's fastball is now around 97mph, I guess he was bound to lose velocity as he got older. 2 out of 3 against the Yankees is pretty good though

We’re not going to be able to properly evaluate the returns for Giles etc immediately. If the trade deadline acquisitions perform as badly in 2020 as McKinney and Drury in 2019, then Atkins’ job may be on the line.
