Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 I think there's an argument to make that even if he'd caught the ball and tagged him, that he didn't give him a lane as per the new rules...
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 Ball is carrying like a motherf***er today.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 Nice inning from Vladdy on D. Solid fundamentals, made the play on a ground, looked the runner back at third, solid throw. Then calling off the pitcher and taking charge, that's his ball so it's good that he wasn't timid about calling for it.
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 Man thats a terrible swing on miss by Teoscar, absolutely terrible.
Ray Verified Member Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 Teoscar needs to be optioned to AAA to figure it out. He's been terrible. Bring Gurriel back up.

Honestly he was a terrible defensive player to being with, I think he would need a WRC of 115 Plus to have any value The bat doesn't seem like it will ever develop to that point. I think its probably time to move on. He is a league average hitter after almost a thousand at bats, and seems to have regressed. I dont think there is anything to figure out.

Teo's D hasn't been a problem this year, he's slightly above neutral numbers wise (UZR of 2.0, DRS of 2) and has made some really excellent throws. SSS obviously, but hopefully he's worked to improve on that. An average LF defender with his bat is a useful piece (obviously I'm assuming his bat will regress towards his numbers from last year...)

Or just send him to Buffalo because he has options
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2019 Author Posted May 15, 2019 Nice double play to get out of the inning.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 I haven't seen a 3-6-3 double play in a while... well, I don't remember seeing one. Well executed there, guys!
KevinGregg Verified Member Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 Come on Joe, does anyone ever actually put a hit and run on hoping that it is a double play? Just because the pitcher will probably get out then you can have your lead off hitter lead off the next inning? Ridiculous take
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 104.3 EV for Edwin Jackson on that ground out.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 What a stupid pickoff attempt, Drury wasn't going anywhere there.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 The way I personally see it is that Teo has more upside but a lower floor than DSJ. I think DSJ is about what he'll ever be, and I have hopes the Teo can still improve. I'm fine with the moves that were made w/r/t the OF in the spring. I guess it depends on exactly what Teoscar is. His defense numbers this year are improved so far, so if that holds he may be the superior option anyway. In all reality, the correct answer may be none of the above

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 Teoscar is heading to AAA after this road trip And McKinney
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 Yep really neither can hit at the mlb level. Its Mid May
KevinGregg Verified Member Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 4 K for Teo today. That is sad. I think the ship has sailed on him
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 FFS, stop suggesting McKinney should think about bunting with 2 strikes.
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 FFS, stop suggesting McKinney should think about bunting with 2 strikes. It's really the only way he gets on at that point. He is extremely outmatched vs quality pitching Not sure we got anything in the Happ trade

He is extremely outmatched vs quality pitching Not sure we got anything in the Happ trade Well, to be fair, we traded like 3 months of Happ, it's not like we were moving a HUGE asset.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 And also bench players aren't nothing
glory Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2019 Posted May 16, 2019 Well, to be fair, we traded like 3 months of Happ, it's not like we were moving a HUGE asset. Yes 2+ months of Happ wasn't a great asset, but Drury was an arb eligible 26 year old who peaked at a 1 WAR to that point, and McKinney is a jack of no trades. 1-2 WAR players are signing minor league deals in today's market. They really have no value anymore. They'll have value to a good team that can use 1-2 wins for $550k, but to a rebuilding team? Just sign Adam Jones and Josh Harrison to play OF and 2B/3B and flip them at the deadline for lotto tickets (vetrin presents). Don't trade actual vet assets for 1 WAR young players. That's why I actually liked the Russell Martin trade. Ronnie Brito probably sucks, but at least you can dream. I'd rather have that than a 24 year old 0.5 WAR outfielder who is ready right now.

I think the ship has sailed on him Would not be apposed to calling Gurriel and Biggio up in the process. The OF needs some serious help. I think Biggio in RF might actually work. He seems to be able to track balls pretty well and takes good routes, granted there’s only been like one challenging play so far and he made the catch. He’s handled all the routine plays, and even showed off his range a bit tracking a ball to deep RF foul territory which is pretty good for a guy just starting OF. He also came close to catching a homerun ball that bounced on top of the wall, followed it all the way to the wall until it was out of reach. His arm was strong enough for the ball to reach third on just one hop with fair accuracy. Gurriel’s had what, 6 games in LF? Calling him fluid is a bit of a stretch, but he hasn’t embarassed himself yet. It’s going to take time for him to develop but his bat has been good and our OF bats on the big club have been atrocious. Edited May 16, 2019 by BlueRocky

What if we traded Happ for Luke Voit? or Yandy Diaz? or Christian Walker? or Stephen Piscotty? or Dwight Smith Jr.?...or how about our own Randell Grichuk? There are lots of guys in their mid 20's who, when given an opportunity or a fresh start, turn into valuable players (despite never putting it all together for their previous club). Does it always happen? Of course not, but it seems like you're completely ruling out that possibility in favor of only high risk lottery tickets.
