Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2019 Author Posted May 3, 2019 Of course, glad to see Hanson gone. But I think tomorrow is going to be a bullpen game or there will be an opener or something. A 3 man bench and an 8 man pen for the weekend is a good move.
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 3, 2019 Posted May 3, 2019 Alen Hanson is one of the very worst players I've ever seen in a Blue Jays uniform, and that isn't hyperbole.

BTS Community Moderator Posted May 3, 2019 Posted May 3, 2019 I'm trying to think of someone worse over the past 10 years or so and I can't. Off the top of my head the only one close in the last few years is Gift Ngoepe.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2019 Author Posted May 3, 2019 Once the roster settles I wonder which position player will get the call. Gurriel is an obvious answer and I wouldn't be surprised to see Law stick with another arm being sent down. Also wouldn't be surprised to see anyone with options be shuffled up and down as we use openers/bullpen games to fill that 5th spot for a while.

Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2019 Posted May 3, 2019 I'm trying to think of someone worse over the past 10 years or so and I can't. I was just old enough to remember Tom Lawless. At least that dude could steal bases. I'm not going to pretend that 8 year old me could tell that dude really sucked at the time, but man his negative WAR per PA is up there with the worst of them. Bonus for him is that he managed to stick around for 2 years on a contending team. And he's got the win over Bautista on the all-time bat flips rank. I'm guessing there are some players even worse than that on the 70's teams.

Bonifacio was freaking horrible We gotta set some ground rules for this. Are we talking about guys who were bad as Jays or just bad players overall? Both of those players, while useless in Jays uniforms, did have palpable seasons elsewhere. This Hansen character has managed to achieve a career negative WAR in an era where front offices know what that means.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2019 Posted May 3, 2019 Carlos Garcia 1997 is the worst that I remember.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted May 3, 2019 Posted May 3, 2019 Took long enough...good to see

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 Umm... what... Brito HELLO yes Brito has to rival Hansen for sure. If we DFA Brito next and call up Biggio the world will be in balance.

Brito is worse then Hanson, actually significantly... Brito 34 PA -0.5 WAR Hanson 48 PA -0.4 WAR Brito on pace for -9 WAR over 600 PA.
