Stroman throws 5 pitches, 3 of them hit the strike zone on Gameday, but 4 balls and 1 strike were called.

Is it a save situation with a runner on with 3 outs to go even up 4 runs?

 

No, tying run has to be in the on deck circle for a save of more than 3 runs (or pitch at least the last 3 innings).

No reason to have Stro pitch the 9th. At all. Luckily he was out by 109 pitches but it’s a 4 run lead and you just burned your best reliever rather than starting the inning with Tepera who was warming up in the previous inning anyway.

 

Montoyo was in the Rays org for that long but resembles Ned Yost more than Kevin Cash.

 

Nice win though.
