Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 My boy Urena is really impressing me so far! He clearly belongs in the Majors with his play so far. The future is bright for him Who the f*** likes Urena?

Corporal Valdal Verified Member Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 He's only 23, but his career results to date are not promising. Don't get your hopes up too high I am not getting my hopes up to high! But at only 23 he still has room to learn! Even if we squeeze a utility infielder who only plays 50-60 games a year out of him! I would be happy with that
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 These games are more entertaining than last year. Young players > Said at the very beginning of this thread I like the 2019 Jays version more than the 2018 version. And Vlad is coming. This team will draw in the casuals. Shatkins is safe.
43211234 Verified Member Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 How do you know this? The old school broadcaster is all anyone's ever known. Fans may love learning more about the modern game if anyone would ever introduce it to them. I actually love hearing old stories. I didn't listen when Tom Cheek was around but the Jerry Howarth/Alan Ashby radio tandem was great. TV gives less room than radio for storytelling but Buck and Pat spend way too much time trying to be analysts. They just feed off each other in their smugness and start making s*** up. I almost get the feeling that they've been instructed to try to put more modern analysis into their broadcasts but that only seems to inevitably lead to discussions on choking up with two strikes. A much better situation would be the active discouragement of Buck and Pat to make any sort of analysis, and an encouragement to tell stories and for Buck to make the little quips your aunt loves. And in tandem with that, strap Hazel and Arash to a rocket and fire them away (might need a Saturn V for Arash). Instead of the Hazel mom-voice reports from the clubhouse, hire someone inclined with modern analytics and give short little insights. Introducing some modern stats and ideas. Keeping things nice and simple. One example could be to explain how much better Matt Boyd's start was than the average fan might think. Another issue is probably Scotty Stats. I'm 99% sure he doesn't know what wOBA is. In the current state Buck and Pat's smugness is annoying to fans who are more informed of these things, and misleading to those that aren't.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 I wonder if a team has ever failed to win a 4 game series in which their starters didn't give up a run. Embarrassing.
