Not going to catch up in their division but with the best rotation in baseball can easily push for the Wild Card, they're only 4.5 out of the 2nd wild card.

At first I reacted with the Mets don't even have the best rotation in their own division, but thinking about it - it's an interesting debate. The Mets may have the best 4/5 in their rotation but overall who do you pick as the best?

Astros - Cole, Verlander, Grienke, Miley, Sanchez

Nationals - Scherzer, Strasburg, Corbin, Sanchez, Hellickson/Fedde

Dodgers - Kershaw, Ryu, Buehler, Maeda, Hill/Stripling

Mets - deGrom, Syndergaard, Stroman, Wheeler, Matz/Vargas

Teams like the Twins, Rays, and Cleveland are a level below those 4 teams IMO.

When you consider shortened playoff rotations, if all those 4 teams make it then we're going to see some epic postseason pitching contests!

Dodgers for me, especially if Dustin May is good, as expected

Counting someone who isn't yet in the majors is cheating, but yeah for the regular season I'd probably take Dodgers over Astros, though I'd be tempted to flip that for the playoffs.

May is starting tomorrow, also Vargas was traded a couple days ago and Scherzer's back on the IL.

Houston and Mets going forward in the regular season, Astros and Nats(if they get in) in the PS.

Smart gamble with JD by AA.

3 WAR and the upside of Donaldson was worth the risk even if he had a terrible season. Dangerous bat in the playoffs.

TBF a one year contract doesn't have too many drawbacks, but yeah a good pick up.

Is it just me, or do you guys also think it's BS that Kela recieved a 10 game suspension when Garrett only recieved 8 games?

Some actually think what Garrett did was justified because the Pirates are a bunch of goons. Kela escalated the situation by throwing at Dietrich's head...which is more dangerous in my opinion.

I'd put the Dodgers and Mets in a tie for the best 5-man rotation, but the Astros with the best playoff rotation.

Man - what happened to Austin Barnes?

3.7 WAR, 142 wRC+ with almost a 1:1 BB:K ratio in only 262 PA's in 2017. He looked like the next coming of Jason Kendall. Now he's back in AAA after hitting like Goins the past 2 years. This kid hit in every stop throughout his career.

More people need to do what Mejia just did ... lay down an easy bunt against the shift for a free base hit.

The problem is that the players that have the shift put on against them are typically the ones that can't bunt.

Only because they refuse to learn how. If you can swing and put the bat on the ball, you can certainly learn to do the same thing without the swing.

Bunting is the devil.

Stroman and Sanchez starting today

So, stay out of the Sportsnet Comment Section today? Gotcha. This is going to be gross.
