Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 Jays creeping up on a top notch draft pick As of today we're only 2 games off of Baltimore and KC for the top pick. And even the worst NL team (Miami) has a better record. More reason to trade Stro and Giles The best scenario for a rebuilding team is a MLB roster with several promising young players and a top farm. Where San Diego is right now.
Pinkfloid Verified Member Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 Another rest day for Vladdy today. This team really knows how to stick it to their fans.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 Another rest day for Vladdy today. This team really knows how to stick it to their fans. And Sogard is the DH. Lol. Not like they could have put Vlad there, or anything. I get that they want to give young players periodic off days due to the difference in the length of the season between the minors and majors, but DH is a thing, you know. Use it for good purposes, and not to get a utility IF in his twilight into the lineup.

Pinkfloid Verified Member Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 I think it's a good idea with his body type. It's not like he's ripping apart the league anyways. With the off day tomorrow and playing in Baltimore on Tuesday? Nah.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 With the off day tomorrow and playing in Baltimore on Tuesday? Nah. Also throw in the fact that we're facing a LH starter makes the decision to start Sogard at the DH spot over Vladdy more mind boggling.
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 Tank for Torkelson I think you are in luck, this team is not good enough to win many games.
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 So the org/Manager are idiots...no vlad with a day off, and a team that is offense starved. lol.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 Is Vlad being punished for lack of hustle yesterday?
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 Hazel's nipples can't even make this team watchable.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 No idea how good he'll be post TJS but he was pretty good beforehand.
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 One positive. Gurriel has looked good in LF.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 It's one thing to not have faith in either the front office or manager, but to not have faith in both is scary. Atkins better hit a goddamn home run this trade deadline.
jmomcc Verified Member Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 Can you trade newly signed J2 guys? The yankees are deep but their incoming guy will be number 1 on their list very very quickly. That's who I would want.

baubau Verified Member Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 No trades with Cashman, please. Thanks. Why?
baubau Verified Member Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 He's too good. In what way? Honestly, I'd be happy to trade Stroman to NY. He'll probably end up going there as a FA anyways, might as well try and capitalize a package around Florial or Frazier. If nothing else NYY asking for him may increase bidding for Stro.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 Cashman bent Atkins over his knee with the Happ deal. Two non-tender candidates for the best left handed starter on the market. Hopefully Atkins learns his lesson if they deal with one another again.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 Why? He doesn't make bad trades very often, doesn't trade good prospects, and if you're still not convinced that it is a bad idea, just look at Drury and McKinney's faces as a reminder of the last time Atkins traded with Cashman.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 Once we trade Stroman and Giles are we going to be the worst team in baseball?
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 Once we trade Stroman and Giles are we going to be the worst team in baseball? I can't see us overtaking the O's. Anyway, this year 25th worst or 30th worst, doesn't matter.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 We really really need a pitcher in the upper levels to pan out.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 I can't see us overtaking the O's. Anyway, this year 25th worst or 30th worst, doesn't matter. We are pretty close with Stroman and Giles, without and I think it's a dead heat. Who is the likely #1 pick next year? There isn't a Harper or Strasburg type is there?
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 Once we trade Stroman and Giles are we going to be the worst team in baseball? Hopefully. I can see this team going on an annoying run that ruins are draft position though.I think the 2 goals for the remainder of the season is to lose as many games as possible and try to milk out the best prospects you can for the veteran players not in the long term plans. Its going to be tough to be worse than Miami and Baltimore those teams are completely void of talent. Atleast the Blue Jays have some interesting pieces.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 We really really need a pitcher in the upper levels to pan out. To go along with Pearson and Patrick Murphy. I'm very optimistic in Murphy becoming a solid mid rotation starter
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 Its going to be tough to be worse than Miami and Baltimore those teams are completely void of talent. Not true at all in the case of Miami. You are right about the O's though, they have dug themselves into a deep hole.
