Cubs have come calling for Giles....

Their prospect list is a lot worse than I thought it was. Hoerner is obvious (although not a high end top prospect), but beyond that there's a few lower profile arms with some intrigue and little of anything else.

Do you think there’s any chance the Phillies might have interest in Stroman and Giles?

I don't know. Hard to say. Hector Neris is pitching well so far as the closer, and while injured Robertson has a strong track record. Stroman would be an upgrade over VV, but unless VV was part of the return or moved to the pen (which I'm not sure I see them doing), I'm not sure they'd see him as much of an upgrade (if any) over Eflin or Eickhoff. I'm also not convinced they have salary room for Stroman or Giles, so unless we were willing to take on an ugly contract it might not work from that perspective either. I'm actually not sure they have any ugly contracts. Nicasio maybe.

Guerra claimed off waivers too. Lol.

Thank f***.

Why are you celebrating this when by now it is obvious that management will just replace him with another piece of garbage? It's not like Atkins is thinking "Damn, we just lost Javy Guerra, let's make a run at Dallas Keuchel now".

because he hates watching Javy Guerra pitch. It's as simple as that Dick.

The Jays are getting dragged hard over this lol

It’s well deserved. They are already admittedly tanking the s*** out of this season, but to not play Vlad in a game where actual human beings show up (as opposed to a normal night when it will be nothing but blue seats) is just being tone deaf to optics.

It’s like Shatkins go out of their way to piss off a fanbase that already hates them. Easy fix is DH him today and rest him tomorrow. Not sure why they went with the dumbest option possible.

I wonder if there might be information that they know about that the fanbase doesn't.

Probably, but they may also have looked at the matchups and realized that yesterday and tomorrow are games we had/have a legit shot at winning, and today's was a long shot. If you have to sit Vladdy, why not do it in the game where him playing probably doesn't matter?

The more Vlad plays = the more exercise he gets = the more calories he burns = the lighter and healthier he is = the greater chance he avoids injuries down the road.

Resting a 20 yo position player for rest's sake is complete ********. If he pulled something, announce it and say he's day-to-day. No reason to toy with the fanbase like that.

He actually DOES look like he might have lost a few pounds over the last few weeks, but maybe that's just the optimist in me.

SSS, but he's been awful v. LHP.

v. RHP: 152 wRC+

v. LHP: -53 wRC+

What's worse? fans not getting to see him play or fans seeing him go 0-4 v. Price?

If only Drury hit lefties well (or anyone well...f*** me he sucks) Montoyo could set up a platoon!

Yeah if Vlad is hurt or banged up, I have no problem resting him. But it sounds like it was a pre planned rest day, which is stupid as hell since they could have done it the day before (on the road) or day after (when there will be more people at my gym than there will be at the Dome). Doing it today on a day where they expected a larger than usual crowd on a holiday is just going to make people not want to buy tickets later. Of course the Jays won't be a hot seller until they are good again but I don't think they want 10k at the Dome every night either.

A 17 PA sample vs lefties should NOT be used as the basis for an argument.

You should have just stopped at SSS.

This. This is worse

No, whats even worse is benching a player after he's gone 2 for 4 with a HR the day before.

You never, ever should do that. Especially a young kid who needs to build up his confidence

My favourite so far was that Dad who said he'll never come to another baseball game again cause he brought his kids to watch Vlad play. I feel sorry for your kids!

Offer them a f***ing bobblehead and they will be right back at the games. Toronto fans are officially the worst in the majors.

I didn't see this posted the other day, from missing a start or 2 at most to this...

In further unfortunate news for Toronto, injured lefty Ryan Borucki may not make his 2019 debut until mid- to late June, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet tweets. Borucki has recovered slowly from an elbow ailment that surfaced toward the end of March and was only supposed to keep him out for a small amount of regular-season time. Two months later, though, the 25-year-old Borucki hasn’t yet gotten the opportunity to build on a solid rookie campaign in which he managed a 3.87 ERA/3.80 FIP with 1.6 fWAR over 97 2/3 innings and 17 starts.

Montoyo makes me f***ing crazy. kid has got his swing rolling....needs reps on D and he is 20. I could drink all night...bang 20 women and work the whole next day when I was 20. Well...maybe I'm exaggerating. Like 4 women...or 8.

Looks like the Birds are piggy-backing Richard and Feierabend for Thursday's start...

Richard (knee) completed a bullpen session Monday and could be activated from the 10-day injured list to pitch in Thursday's game against the Red Sox, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Richard was exceptional while making his 2019 debut in affiliated ball over the weekend at Triple-A Buffalo, blanking the opposition for 3.1 no-hit innings. The lefty only tossed 48 pitches in the outing, so if he does in fact rejoin the Blue Jays on Thursday, he would likely be limited to around 50-to-60 pitches while working as a primary pitcher out of the bullpen rather than a traditional starter. If Toronto instead decides after Richard's bullpen session to keep him to the minors for another rehab start, the Blue Jays could still elect to use an opener in front of Ryan Feierabend, who was limited to four innings while working as Toronto's temporary fifth starter over the weekend.

That is the great question. Why do younger players sit? I've never heard anything about the why it is important for their development. The orgs that do it (Dodgers, Rays, Astros and Cubs) are orgs that seem to have smart front offices. But I would love to know the why.
