glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 Or they just don’t think he’s any good. Yeah. Shatkins hoard prospects like collectibles. They left Bergen unprotected because they either think he isn't that good, thought he would pass through without being selected, or both.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 and they think David Paulino....aka lazy man is better? Bergen has had a pretty solid spring. I don't think we're getting him back. So now you think Bergen's better than Paulino, gtfo, lol.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 So now you think Bergen's better than Paulino, gtfo, lol. 2019 Spring Training numbers > everything else.
King Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 and they think David Paulino....aka lazy man is better? That's racist.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 2019 Spring Training numbers > everything else. Yeah, Bergen's minor league numbers suck. Paulino clearly better. His own team mate called him out in spring training, but that's no big deal. I expect Paulino will be a stud for us this year.

Paulino is a few months younger than Bergen and carved up AA as a starter, had success in AAA as a starter, and hasn't looked out of place in the majors. Bergen is a pure reliever with 35 innings at AA. I can't think of a single reason to prefer Bergen.

Yes, called out by the guy who punched himself in the face last year and got sent down for swearing at his manager on the mound. That guy definitely doesn't have anger problems at all.

In 3 season's at AAA he struck out 11 per 9, walked 3.9/9 gave up 1.4 HR per 9 with a 1.37 WHIP. Bergen is a lefty for starters, which I like. He put up an 11.8K/9, walked 2.4/9 , .3hr/9 last year with a 1.006 WHIP. I would be more than happy to make a friendly wager with you on who's major league numbers are better this year if you want.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 You should take the L on this one, bro. Give me a break. It's not overwhelming on one side or the other. Bergen just had injury issues, but he's pitched extremely well whenever he's been able to get on the mound.
tercet Verified Member Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 Bergen is just a generic lh reliever that is 90-93 when I saw him in NH. I don't think he is anything special, lol ST stats I don't understand why Paulino isnt making the team. Call me crazy but he might be the best or even 2nd best reliever on our team. Maybe they are going to convert him to a starter?

Stop it bro cmon, odds are like 95% Bergen will be back with the Jays anyways this year prob.

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 (edited) SP>>>>>>>RP... lol he's not going to be a starter....he's a younger John Axford without the movie picks! They could have protected both though instead having Oliver fricking Drake on the 40. Edited March 27, 2019 by saskjayfan

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 Oliver Drake isn't on the 40. https://jaysjournal.com/2018/11/26/blue-jays-claim-oliver-drake-tampa-bay-rays/ He was when the Rule 5 draft took place.

I know, but that doesn't matter now. A pitcher currently on the 40-man would have to not be there if he had been retained. I wouldn't have really cared if they did prefer Bergen to someone like Biagini or Diaz, but I don't think it's clear enough to really complain about.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 Do we know if Paulino was sent down to start? If he was, then I approve. If he wasn't, and they are putting him in the pen, then he should be in the bigs right now.
tercet Verified Member Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 Luciano, Pannone and Urena get the last spots wtf
BTS Community Moderator Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 Luciano, Pannone and Urena get the last spots wtf Which ones surprise you? Urena vs. Sogard was a wash, and Norris isn't ready yet.

tercet Verified Member Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 I would've preferred Jason Adam here. Well I have only seen him once and man he looked bad last night, but pannone might as while pitch underhand as he is super hr prone.
