Our top 50 prospects list has been released this morning!

https://www.radioscouts.com/blog/organizational-review-top-50-blue-jays-prospects

Great read.

Only disagreement I probably have is Reese McGuire's low ranking. Of course, this list is based on both the player's stats and scouting reports, which is a good combination to rely on when compiling such a list. That being said, there have been glowing reports about McGuire's glove (especially his framing, based on numbers from an article I'm currently having difficulty finding), which I think boosts his potential.

While Jansen is definitely the better prospect, especially with his bat, McGuire is a good prospect to have in case things don't go the way we hope for Jansen.

I realized this when writing him up. If you read the blurb, it kind of complains about our own ranking.

Does anyone feel like writing a quick guest article about the Pillar trade/Grichuk extension for Radio Scouts?

Is it still too early to reflect on this?

Well written by the way.

Thanks, EnglishJay! Much obliged, sir.

I'd say it's too early to truly dissect the article, but, by all means, feel free to comment on it.

I need to give it another read myself, but I know that some of these predictions are looking prettyyyy... prettyyyy... prettyyyy... pretty unlikely.

You make some good points Nick. I was also putting some thought into Frazier.

There’s some upside in the bat, and he’s still only 24. But the K/BB is alarming, the defense has been questionable. Still, he would instantly slot into middle of the current lineup. He would probably hit better than Teo/Grichuk but that’s not saying much. I can see Shatkins really wanting their guy back though.

Ideally I’d rather center the package around a guy with frontline upside, even if he’s not yet in Triple-A/MLB. That is the gaping hole and single biggest need in the organizational depth chart. OF there’s still a chance to sign and grab from FA market, good controllable young arms are very hard to get.

And I’d go quality over quantity. Give me one A guy rather than three B guys.

I’m really not thrilled by any of the arms down in NY that they would be willing to part with, FO might have to find a different trade partner. A couple of the NY arms are either very high variance (A+ or lower) or injury prone.

Deivi Garcia and Luis Gil are intriguing. Clarke Schmidt. Most of their other arms are either not developing or stalling out in the upper minors for whatever reason.
