Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 He'll probably just resign with the Dodgers for additional years. Never know what could happen though. I’m assuming that’s what will happen as well. But I think hes opting out for sure.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 He won't opt out. Why do you think that?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 I’m assuming that’s what will happen as well. But I think hes opting out for sure. Who's going to pay him more, ya dolts? lol
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 Who's going to pay him more, ya dolts? lol Probably a team that wants one of the best pitchers in Baseball that’s still in the prime of his career.
King Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 Probably a team that wants one of the best pitchers in Baseball that’s still in the prime of his career. he's on the wrong side of 30, has back problems and wasn't a top 10 starting pitcher this year Saddle up!
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 Who's going to pay him more, ya dolts? lol It's a weak FA class, and he has declining velocity. This is the time for him to cash in. 2/65 with lots of potential risk after, or something like 7/200 now? Seems like an easy choice for him.

The wrong side of 30 he is 30 lol. If you don’t think someone will pay him you’re crazy. The back problems are more incentive for him to go after a long term deal as well.

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 Probably a team that wants one of the best pitchers in Baseball that’s still in the prime of his career. He's been hit by injury pretty substantially these past two seasons, I don't think it's as safe of a bet as you guys think that a team will pony up $30M+ per season for a significant amount of time for this version of Kershaw.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 You see his contract? Yup. And he has better chance getting more money and years now than he will in 2 years.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 Get him out of there Roberts...his day is done.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 Yup. And he has better chance getting more money and years now than he will in 2 years. Not by performance he won't, staying tight is smart.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 Not by performance he won't, staying tight is smart. Do you seriously think that if Kershaw opted out he couldn’t get atleast 2 years $65M elsewhere? You are beyond delusional if you think that’s the case.

Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 Yup. And he has better chance getting more money and years now than he will in 2 years. It's an interesting scenario. It's just over 70M total (2 years) that he would be leaving on the table to opt out. What are we thinking he could fetch on the open market this off season?

What are we thinking he could fetch on the open market this off season? It's $65M, the signing bonus is spread out over the contract and that makes up the other ~5M (unless there's something in there that he forfeits the rest if he opts out). I think he gets in the 7/180 to 7/200 range, assuming there's no major injury issues going forward in his medicals.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 If Kershaw Opts out, he's an Invalid.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 If Kershaw Opts out, he's an Invalid. Someone sounds nervous now.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 Kershaw might opt out but no way he’s getting 7 years.
