glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 Teoscar had a 102 wrc+ heading into tonight and a -0.1 WAR. How f'n bad is his defence and base running? Geez.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 I can't think of a worse way to close out 2018 by finishing the season in this s*** hole stadium. Very fitting.

I think we can all see that he's not a good fielder. With WAR though, keep in mind that it doesn't use the new statcast data. It looks at things like total chances, but not at whether the fielder had any hope in hell of actually making the play. It's the best tool we've got, but it's by no means perfect.
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 Not a single 2 WAR position player on this club, unless Grichuk/pillar/smoak goes ape s***

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 When Ken Giles has an All-Star first half next year hes going to be one hell of a trade asset!
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 When Ken Giles has an All-Star first half next year hes going to be one hell of a trade asset! Amazing how the Jays were in the worst possible position as far as selling on an asset and still ended up getting a comparable RP plus two prospects. If Giles has a great first half next year, then you have Paulino, Perez, and whatever we get for Giles next July. That would be a pretty good haul all things considered.

Including the trade to get Giles from the Phillies, the Astros ultimately traded Ken Giles, Vince Velasquez, Mark Appel (rip), Thomas Eshelman, Brett Oberholtzer, Harold Arauz, David Paulino, and Hector Perez for Roberto Osuna and Jonathan Arauz. While it's looking more and more like the Astros probably won't regret trading away any of the assets they gave up to the Phillies (Velazquez aside), that is an indefensible display of negligence over the course of the two trades. We'll see what becomes of Paulino and Perez, but the Astros are already well behind the eight ball on this pair of trades - we know what Giles is and have a pretty good idea of what Velazquez is as well.

Well Giles was never going to pitch for them again after destroying his relationship with the team, and Osuna is an elite reliever with two more years of control so I don’t think indefensible is the right term. If you offered them the chance to reverse the trades I’m not sure they would. I mean you could say just trade for Osuna in one deal without getting Giles first, but it obviously doesn’t work like that.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 Buck and Tabby really need to get Snell's cock out of their mouths, they're going to choke.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 Ha ha ha, f*** yo small ball, rays!
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 Diego Castillo just threw the most casual 101.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 Mirage just hit a ball that probably won't land until sometime in December.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 Martin's future as a manager is questionable given he decided to hit Pillar in the leadoff spot. Unless it's just a nothing gesture to the longest tenured Jay to hit there in a meaningless game.

According to the broadcast team Martin wants to give Pillar a chance to get to 40 doubles, and if he does then Davis will then come on for him
