We're Royals-ing this off-season so far.

 

Even if we were tanking it takes two teams to make a trade. All 3 have enough flaws to mean that we may only have received very low offers (if any at all).

I would imagine the trade offers for those players are trash, but I agree, the half ass measures have to stop so I’ll be pretty disappointed if those three are still on the team opening day. Vlad’s service time starts in 2019. Time to get serious.

Martin has value to us still, given the young pitchers we have and the fact he can help mentor Jansen. If we can't get something interesting for Smoak, his ability to dig bad throws could be very helpful with Vladdy at 3rd. There's no reason to keep Pillar though imo.

If you keep them, you're just praying for injuries to contending teams that'll be forced an over-payment...

What do you guys think about trying to get Jake Marisnick back from the Astros on the cheap now that they have Brantley... I think he would be a good fit for this team

I don't really think it would be worth it. Alford and/or Pompey probably put up similar numbers both offensively and defensively.

Because Spring Training is still several weeks away? The FO has demonstrated it can move fast when identifying a need. Like quickly signing Happ and Estrada when AA left with a SP black hole and it ended up being a strength in 2016. With the position this team is in, there is no need to rush things and I think they acted too rashly with the Diaz trade.

Gio makes the most sense since he can eat up innings and the Jays really need that.

Yeah, I really want to see us get Kikuchi. For the outfield, Akiyama seems interesting as well if he decides to come over.

Agreed. I'd sign Kikuchi and trade 1 of Stro/Sanchez. I'd then leave the #5 as an internal backfill. Hopefully SRF realizes his potential and then our SR looks pretty decent.

I think the AI's processing core is overheating.

Shapiro and Atkins have both made several clear statements that they are committed to the young guys. Tulo himself just said that the team told him they wanted to commit to a young player at shortstop.

I am honestly interested to know how they plan to put a rotation in place when they are looking to move into competitiveness in a year or two.
