Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 I'm surprised there hasn't been any talk about Smoak potentially going to the Rockies, apparently they have strong interest I posted it, earlier. King asked if I was high? Smoak and Pillar for Gray.
King Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 (edited) This is not correct. He was claimed by the Twins and tendered a contract. Correcting false information is a bannable offense so I apologize in advance. i corrected you for being wrong and didn't get banned.. you got banned for having a hissy fit because you were wrong.. so... You were wrong, and you called King a troll and to f*** off into obscurity, lol.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Wasn't he a bench player for Philly at the end of the year and is a platoon bat for LAA this coming year. Again not a good comparison at all imo I wouldn't put Bour at Smoak's level, I agree.

Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Yeah watching Tellez all year doesn't sound so appealing. It does to me if the return is decent. Rox need him, throw in Pillar for Gray. Gravy... Woohoo.
King Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 It does to me if the return is decent. Rox need him, throw in Pillar for Gray. Gravy... Woohoo. can you stop? they aren't trading Gray for Smoak and Kevin f***ing Pillar pretty much every team in the league could beat that offer
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Yeah watching Tellez all year doesn't sound so appealing. Why, Rowdy had some big hits, was fun to watch, was in the middle of a lot of comebacks and wins, played some decent 1b, brought a lot of energy to the team and seems like a Blue collar lunch bucket guys the fans could get behind.. Smoak has some value now.. What if he regresses more or gets hurt.. Another JD situation and we get nothing and have him taking up space on a team not destined for much this year...
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 can you stop? they aren't trading Gray for Smoak and Kevin f***ing Pillar pretty much every team in the league could beat that offer Well, I've said the same and Boxy and Co... think they're that dumn, so I'll go with that. Check the podcast threads. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

He lied about Morton's velocity multiple times and was openly trolling (still is). His velocity was as I stated on fangraphs and not 96. Look for yourself before making false statements. Why such obvious trolling is tolerated is baffling.

Morton's velo by year: 2014 = 92.7 2015 = 92.9 2016 = 95.4 2017 = 96.0 2018 = 96.6 King said the velo ticked up in 2016 and was 100% correct.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 He averaged 94.3 mph on fastballs according to fangraphs. Besides, it was SEVENTEEN innings. You're obviously being a little sack of s*** troll so do us all a favour and go f*** off. You're wrong, again. 94.3 is his career fastball velocity including 2017 and 2018. He averaged 95.4 in 2016. Also, fastball velocity stabilizes quickly so 17 innings was more than enough to be an indicator of his talent level. Not surprisingly, it carried over into 2017 and 2018. your blood pressure spiked even faster than Mortons velocity when he was with the Phillies Pretty clear to me.

His fastball velocity was not 96 in 2016. It was 94.3 and his 4 seam was at 95.4. I called out the false statement for what it was and King doubled down on his lie in an obvious trolling attempt. The numbers are what they are and I was right. Nothing can change that. You know that and are just trying to have some fun at my expense, so good luck with that. In reality, my buddies and I are having some laughs at your stupidity, much like people here do at the expense of reddit. Goodnight.

BTS Community Moderator Posted December 14, 2018 Author Posted December 14, 2018 Fangraphs also displays a pitch velo table that just shows vFB, which is 4 seamers, sinkers and cutters all binned together But why would he assume that's what King was talking about, and then call King a liar because he said there was an uptick in fastball velo? And even that table shows a 2-3 mph spike in velo in 2016 relative to the previous two years. It just seems like a completely absurd overreaction.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 The Scouting Report Yusei Kikuchi, SP, Age 27 Contract Estimate

[TH]Type[/TH] [TH]Years[/TH] [TH]AAV[/TH] [TH]Total[/TH]

[TH]Kiley McDaniel[/TH] 4 $10.0 M $40.0 M

[TH]Median Crowdsource[/TH] 4 $13.0 M $52.0 M

[TH]Avg Crowdsource[/TH] 4.2 $13.8 M $57.6 M

Kiley’s Take Could be a No. 2 if everything comes together, offering stuff, command, track record, and youth. That said, there’s some concern he may have already peaked, so bidding could also be more for bulk innings in longer-term deal. Posting fee is now just percentage of new contract, so expect something in neighborhood of four or five years at about $9-14 million per year, with another 15-20% going to the Seibu Lions. Player Notes At about the same time this article goes to press, the Lions are expected to announce that the 27-year-old Kikuchi will be posted and able to negotiate with Major League teams this offseason. He has amassed a 2.81 career ERA across eight seasons in hitter-friendly NPB and has mid-rotation big-league stuff. Kikuchi sits mostly 92-93, but he’ll top out around 96 during most of his starts, and he’s thrown as hard as 98. He has two plus breaking balls — a mid-80s slider and mid-70s, 12-6 curveball — that he uses much more often than a fringe-average changeup. He’s a premium athlete who fields his positions well and controls the running game with quick times to home from the stretch. General consensus among scouts/clubs with whom I spoke has Kikuchi projected as an above-average big-league starter with a shot at being a No. 2 if his command continues to develop as it has the last few years. But shoulder issues have plagued Kikuchi several times during his career in Japan, so in addition to the risk associated with a transition from NPB to MLB (slightly different balls, pitching every fifth day instead of once a week) there’s heightened injury risk here, too. A Boras client, Kikuchi is one of the younger players on the market. – EL

Grant was being selective and deceptive, his usual MO. No matter how you trace it he is the one who looks dumb in that line of posts. King’s base claim is that Morton’s velo was up in 2016, which is clearly true

Also of note, depending on your settings I believe you may show the pFX from different data sources, which also show slightly different values.

Also of note, depending on your settings I believe you may show the pFX from different data sources, which also show slightly different values. We are all quoting the same thing. Grant was looking at Mortons career fastball velocity (94.3), which is wrong. His fastball velocity - according to Fangraphs, which we have both acknowledged as what we are using, was 95.4 in 2016.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Grant should really delete his account and start over
