I’m irrationally annoyed that Granderson is still with the team. I never wanted to sign him in the first place, would much rather a fringe prospect like Smith Jr or Pompey got his at bats this year.

I don't think it's irrational at all. Have to make a 25 man roster decision with Pompey next year. Now would have been the perfect time to see what he has. Or they could have played Smith more, or McKinney, or damn near anyone else who potentially could be useful next year. Grandy is a good dude but trade him to a contender already and move on.

I think he means s*** loads of veteran players clear revocable waivers so why make a separate thread for it. Especially for a role player like Granderson.

 

Granderson will probably be traded if anyone wants him but we aren’t going to get anything interesting for him. It might be more valuable to hold onto him and have him be around the young players while the team losses a lot.

 

Its not like we have an OF breaking down the door to get at-bats anyway. He’s already a strict platoon player and we know what 3 Outfielders are going to get the most At-Bats down the strech anyway.

It's interesting that Granderson cleared waivers because he might be the player on the roster most likely to be traded, and him clearing changes the dynamic of an August trade for him.

 

Also, I was trying to start a discussion because the forum has been completely dead for most of August. Anyone posting here in August with the team on pace for 72 wins understands the waiver system. Screeching about it like we're a bunch of casuals losing our s*** because someone like Stroman got claimed is silly.
