TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 Obviously big deals should get their own thread, but dump rumours and minor deals here.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2018 Posted July 21, 2018 Familia traded as per Rosenthal Oakland was the rumor earlier, would make sense.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 Yankees about to get Britton. Orioles better have gotten Sheffield, Florial or Abreu in their deal or it's crap.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 Yankees about to get Britton. Orioles better have gotten Sheffield, Florial or Abreu in their deal or it's crap. Why? Britton probably sucks now.

Slade Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 Just really want to take away their top guys.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 Just really want to take away their top guys. I'd rather watch the Orioles continue to f*** up what should have been a rebuild than the Yankees go against a smart policy for a (probably) mediocre reliever.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 (edited) How did Familia not get a return like this? O's did well. Edited July 25, 2018 by Spanky99
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 How did Familia not get a return like this? Mets wanted a team to take his whole contract instead. For a team in a large market they are extremely cheap. It's pretty sad when the smallest payroll team in the league was willing to take it.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 How did Familia not get a return like this? The Mets would take a sandwich in return if the other team absorbs the entire contract. They make Rogers look like prime George Steinbrenner by comparison.
King Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 Surprised the Orioles were willing to trade within the division.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 Jays should bring Happ in from the bullpen a couple of times this week, increase his value.

BTS Community Moderator Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 The Orioles did pretty well in that trade.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 I wonder what the Jays can get for Oh. That one extra cheap year of control has to be worth more than what the O’s got for Britton.

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 The Red Sox just acquired Nathan Eovaldi for Jalen Beeks. Solid pickup for them, specially if he transitions to a bullpen role in the playoffs.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 Beeks is a 24 year old starter who has elite numbers in AAA this season, very solid return for a half season rental of a player as injury prone as Eovaldi.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 That's pretty good for Tampa. A reclamation project turns into six years of Beeks.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 Nice move by TB. Signing Ramos and Eovaldi while they rehabbed has worked out very well for them.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 Even if Beeks tops out as a fringe #5 or depth arm, the Rays have done well with their original investment.

His K's, velocity and GB rates all heading in the right direction after the development of the cutter.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 25, 2018 Author Posted July 25, 2018 Nice move by TB. Signing Ramos and Eovaldi while they rehabbed has worked out very well for them. I just wonder if these great small moves can ever convert into a true direction though. The 2-3 win guys (with control) they amassed for very little is still impressive but it equates .500 team (which is impressive) not a playoff team.
