Todd Verified Member Posted July 10, 2018 Posted July 10, 2018 The blue jays got them self in this mess with Josh Donaldson before the season even started. He should have been traded before the season even started. Now half way though the season he has spent most of the season injured. Becomes a free agent at season end and might end up with a first round pick maybe. But could have got a very good package deal from numerous teams in a trade. At the start of the season. Now with a rebuild under way it's going to take a few years before this team makes the playoffs again.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2018 Posted July 10, 2018 He's not wrong. But no need for this.
MarcoSanchez Verified Member Posted July 10, 2018 Posted July 10, 2018 Dont you think any team trading for Donaldson would have asked for a physical? They would have discovered his calf issues. Or do you think the 29 other teams are full of idiots.

He got hurt when he did all that Vikings s***. He f***ed up his calf then and it hasn't been the same then. When other teams do their physicals, f***ed up calfs show up. When the Jays were discussing long term with him, they asked him to take some of the risk Atkins in February If “values” translates to dollars and “risk” means guaranteed years on a contract, then Atkins made some sense describing where the Donaldson negotiations stand and why they have been put on hold: “What I’m comfortable sharing, out of respect for this process and J.D. and obviously the organization, is that as we went through the process, it is clear that we understand values and risk,” Atkins said. “It’s also clear that now is not the time to try and push it over the goal line.”
