He looks like s*** in that video until he finally hits a homer around 3:40. But I'm not a scout so I can't really say much about it other than that. His swing does look funny but that doesn't necessarily mean it's bad.

Where exactly do you find him looking like s***? He is taking pitches in 90% of the video. The swing around 1 minute is ugly, sure, there might be one more uncomfortable looking swing, other than that he looks fine. He hit that home run 340+ with a wood bat at 17. Kid turns on a 95 mph inside fastball.

Additionally, looks like they'll be signing him under slot which allowed them to sign his HS teammate Kloffenstein in the 3rd where no other team likely would have been able to. Pretty awesome start to the draft it seems IMO

I don't like the swing in some of the videos because I think he doesn't load properly (almost tries to be too quick) and he drifts too much. The tools for timing just seem off, and it doesn't look like a real pro power swing. Something is off with his front leg and how he uses it / plants. I think he's also trying to be straight to the ball, which is lame.

It can all be fixed.

Being said, I watched other videos and his swing is, unsurprisingly, different in some of them. He's a kid so maybe his swing is "sweet" and it's just the one look that I don't like and/or I have no idea what I'm talking about.

For the record I have no idea what I'm talking about but I do have a really high IQ.

You can’t take anything from that video. Some dudes don’t like to smile. Did you guys want to see him smile ear to ear, jump for joy, and than cry lol.

I read that he's toned down the leg kick / timing mechanism so far this year with much stronger results. I agreed with NJH - his timing / balance looks off a lot in that youtube video.

Yeah I'll go out on a limb and say he was not upset at being drafted 12th overall. I mean i know Toronto is not the ideal spot for a young Texan, but dude is going to be a millionaire and play ball professionally. He looked relieved to be picked to me. Maybe he's just not a smiley guy.

Kloffenstein is retweeting a bunch of stuff related to this draft/him signing so clearly two different personalities.

Did you guys know that HS draft picks don't make swing changes in the MiLB? They have to keep the same swing until they get to the bigs.

IMO Bichette had a much uglier swing than Groshans out of high school.

He's pretty good looking, too. Good genes. Handsome people are better at baseball (Kris Bryant, Bryce Harper, Josh Donaldson, Chase Utley, etc.)

Carter Stewart (8th overall - ATL), Matt McLain (25th - ARI), JT Ginn (30th - LAD), and Gunnar Hoglund (36th - PIT) all failed to sign before the deadline today, so they'll be headed to school next season.
