John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 Players of the day: Vlad Jr Honourable mentions: Kevin Smith, Christian Williams, Brock Lundquist, Bradley Jones, Nash Knight, Logan Warmoth, Sean Reid-Foley, Bo Bichette, Cavan Biggio, Dwight Smith Jr, Rowdy Tellez, Sam Gaviglio Notes: Kacy Clemens debuted at Dunedin going 0-5 with 2 K. Nate Pearson made his first start of the season and took a line drive in the ulna - breaking the f*** out of it.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 So the next time a spot starter is needed is Sam Gaviglio going to get the call over Biagini? Gaviglio is already on the 40 man and has options.

JuniorFelix Verified Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 In all the vlad talk we have forgotten what a great prospect Bichette is Well, I think most of that is because of the start Vlad Jr has gotten off to in AA. He's been rediculous. He's gotten better at every level. Personally I think there is a pretty large gap between Vlad and Bichette. Vlad has generational talent and MVP upside. Bichette doesn't have the same loud tools and likely has more of an above average/all-star type upside.

I'm really impressed that Bichette has increased his walks to 13% this season while maintaining his usual .300+ average and solid power. Keep in mind, he just recently turned 20 and is playing at AA. I'm still seeing skills that could end up being more than just an occasional all-star.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 It's a bit odd that Bichette still hasn't homered this year, but after watching him crack that laser oppo shot in spring training, I'm not worried. There is easily 20-25 HR power in that batspeed.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 The other thing with Bo is the good reports on his D. The bat is so appealing if it could come with solid D at a more premium position. I'm excited for this guy.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 And yes it's nice that Bichette will almost certainly remain a shorstop That helps if Vlad Jr ends up playing LF or 1B
