Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 Anyone know Vlad's stats after tonight's game? Bookmark it, man. https://www.mlb.com/bluejays/prospects/stats/affiliates https://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=sa920245&position=3B
5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted May 8, 2018 Author Posted May 8, 2018 Man, the sound of the crack of the bat from Vladdy is a thing of beauty. I'd understand the argument of keeping Vladdy down a little more if Josh was healthy, but his arm still looks pretty weak to me. I don't think he'll be able to sustain a full season at 3rd. Morales is a shell of his former self so I think it's best to cut bait with him, so there's definitely a very sensible scenario for Vladdy to fit in nicely with the team this year. If I was running the Jays, I'd call Vladdy up to AAA, see how he does during the rest of May and the first few weeks of June and if he's performing at this clip, then he has to be promoted. It wouldn't be fair to the kid to keep him down. Especially if the Jays are still sniffing around a wildcard spot.

BTS Community Moderator Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 Now this is something I have been thinking about and hope MLB and the PA consider in the future. Let each kid have one September call up that does not count against service. This would have many benefits including letting a kid like Vladi get a taste of MLB and feel for what it takes to be a big leaguer. Just an idea. I’m pretty sure the PA would strike before allowing players to spend time on the 25-man without accruing service time.
FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 This thread is going to look awfully silly. How will the team justify keeping him down until May or June 2019? People will be rioting if he continues like this in about a month, and there's no reason to believe he's going to slow down. It's all about controlling your assets. There are smarter men than we who make these decisions.
FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 Let's face it, Vlad is a combo of Prince Fielder and Miggy. Move him to first and let his career run. That body is not going to translate at 3rd.
