JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 (edited) My GDT record: 5-1 You are in good hands my friends! May the Baseball Gods be with us. Edited April 30, 2018 by JaysAllMighty
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 We need to start this road trip off right. I'm not too worried about the Twins but that double header with the Indians followed by a trip to the Trop is worrisome.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 Aaron Sanchez gunna get lit tonight.
AledmysDiaz Verified Member Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 Is Granderson hurt? Edit: Incorrect Lineup in the first post, saw the third post.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 Gift is extremely lucky to get recalled - Donaldson isn’t quite ready and Travis was only just sent down. A few days either way and JD is ready or there’s no need to send down Travis.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 Plus Espinosa was only released last week.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 Yeah times like this are exactly why Gift is fine to have in the org. Quick callups where he can be the 25th man and do nothing more than sub in late in a game. Having him on the team when Travis and his mandatory days off were on the team was a disaster.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 I just looked at Buxton's stats so far this year and look at that, he sucks again.
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2018 Author Posted April 30, 2018 Is Granderson hurt? Edit: Incorrect Lineup in the first post, saw the third post. fixed, Baseball Press site has the wrong lineup
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 Aaron Sanchez gunna get lit tonight. I guess if this narrative is going to be constantly repeated prior to a Sanchez start, it will happen sooner or later. If not, we'll all be pleasantly surprised, right?
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 Twins are a bloody mess right now--Hughes moved to bullpen, Sano possibly headed to DL, worst pitching in AL, and Buxton still out.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 Our DH, who brings absolutely nothing to the table other than his flaccid bat, is hitting 7th. What are we trying to salvage here?
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 Grichuk is out for 3 weeks, per Davidi Pompey get the call?
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 Grichuk is out for 3 weeks, per Davidi Pompey get the call? Nope-Ngeope is up for a few days until Donaldson returns at week's end for the Tampa series. And maybe the lineup improves a little offensively with Grichuk and Travis out of it for a few weeks. Besides, we were carrying too many OFs--which is why Ngeope got the call over Alford and Pompey.

Eventually we will go back to a 4 man bench instead of 3. Donaldson will be back for Ngoepe. Then Ramirez will prob go back down for a bench player. Could be Pompey, probably more likely to be Travis.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 I just looked at Buxton's stats so far this year and look at that, he sucks again. Meh, SSS plus he's injured.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 Ah well, at least Pompey is playing baseball. He'd be an ideal 4th OF, speed, switch hitter, good D although the arm is average. Here's hoping he stays healthy and gets a chance to show he's a MLB calibre player.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 Meh, SSS plus he's injured. Yes and even within the SSS, I suspect he was having the migraine issues during the games.

What are we trying to salvage here? I don't like Morales and hope that he produces tonight, he's 3 for 3 against Lynn and 2 of them hits were home runs.

Then Ramirez will prob go back down for a bench player. Could be Pompey, probably more likely to be Travis. I would prefer to see Alford and have good D in the OF if we have to PH Pierce.. I don't want Pierce in the OF late in a one run or tie game.. Grichuk is out at LEAST three weeks supposedly... , When Donaldson comes back we will have 4 IF for 2b-SS, 3b if we send Giff down. Martin can play in a pinch.. Rather have Alford who can play all three OF positions, PR, and potentially hit.. Plus, I think he will inject more energy into the team and fans then Pompey.. Day by day I think the only solution is get rid of Morales...

What are we trying to salvage here? I would imagine that unlike other teams, certain seniors at Rogers have to agree to write-off $20M in an obsolete asset

Then Ramirez will prob go back down for a bench player. Could be Pompey, probably more likely to be Travis. Travis will most likely remain in Buffalo for at least two weeks. Two straight weeks of getting at bats (alternating from second base and DH) will be the best path for him in getting his timing back. When JD is back, I think Pompey makes the most sense to be brought up. Alford is the better prospect and needs to be playing every day right now, especially after missing some time this year.
