tercet Verified Member Posted July 14, 2018 Posted July 14, 2018 Rhiner Cruz basically won the lottery. From non 40 man roster AAA reliever to 60 day DL. With a 5 year gap in between MLB appearences...
tercet Verified Member Posted July 14, 2018 Posted July 14, 2018 But man wtf Gurriel is pulling a teoscar, performing over his head in a SSS, and everyone thinks hes is good. Why are casual baseball fans so stupid, fml

tercet Verified Member Posted July 14, 2018 Posted July 14, 2018 You must be really fun at parties. Well am I supposed to pretend he is a good hitter because of a random hot streak? Nevermind the fact he has a career ops under 700 in the minors.

And than was dealing with nagging injuries the entire year. He’s athletic, can play multiple positions, and hits balls hard. Obviously needs to improve his walk rate. But hes an intriguing player that will likely provide us surplus value in the contract he signed.

He has a career milb and mlb ops under 700, he has a career mlb bb/k ratio of 11-1 and he is a god awful defender. He made several errors when I saw him in MILB games in Dunedin back in ST over a few days. He got hit in the face with a ground ball he missed, and had to be taken out of the game. He got signed to a big contract because of his last name and his dad/brother's history. At NO point in his career in the US has he been even an average player at any point.

tercet Verified Member Posted July 14, 2018 Posted July 14, 2018 It's true it has been a SSS his MLB career, but pretty much everything says he will be terrible, ha. Just because someone is young and got signed to some big contract doesn't mean he will be a good baseball player. Did you not see all of the other Cuban players that didn't workout?

tercet Verified Member Posted July 14, 2018 Posted July 14, 2018 But this season is a lost cause anyways, lets just play him and Teoscar every other day to see if they can somehow become average/good players.

Did you not learn anything from Teoscar? Everything says he would regress and guess what? He regressed. Gurriel has been terrible for 500 abs in the last 1.5 years. Now that Gurriel had one average week, everyone thinks he is good? Cmon man. Why do I even bother to respond to you sometimes, sigh

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2018 Posted July 15, 2018 Pillar out 4-6 weeks. Apparently could've been way worse.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2018 Posted July 15, 2018 It's to bad Alford has been garbage. This was his opportunity. Our bench is so disastrously short today. Martin is the backup SS.
flafson Verified Member Posted July 15, 2018 Posted July 15, 2018 Can’t believe we let Gurriel stay in the game and now he’s out with concussion...
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2018 Posted July 15, 2018 Can’t believe we let Gurriel stay in the game and now he’s out with concussion... Sounds like all the proper protocols were followed. Symptoms didn't develop until after the game. He'd almost certainly be out the same amount of time either way.
