They just gave him an extension this past winter, if they were going to do it it would've been this winter, he likely could be used as the scapegoat, though.

 

I don't think they'll fire him as a scapegoat after an extension, though other guys like Pete Walker or the hitting coach could likely be told to they're gonna fall on their sword.

 

I dunno, at this point its fairly clear that everything that could go wrong has gone wrong with regard to team health ... so putting any of it on any of the coaching staff would just be pointless IMO, unless they're really worried about optics to the casual fans, which they shouldn't be worried about at all.

Hey, looking at The Blue Jays catching situation in 2019, what are your thoughts?

 

Maile is looking more like Maile, making him expendable. Martin looks like he's a backup catcher more and more. Do you think he's tradeable at all?

 

I think I would like to see Danny Jansen full-time in 2019, with Martin playing every third day, and providing mentorship, and I guess emergency INF help. Assuming he is untradeable.

Have Martin and Jansen split 60-40. If you can get value for Martin by trading him then do it otherwise just keep him around.
