Bruce is a $26M future sunk cost.

Swarzak is an $8M future sunk cost.

Mets therefore are getting $94M in "money" from the Mariners.

Cano is under contract for 5/$120M.

Mets essentially are getting Cano for 5/$26M or whatever.

Cano can still ball.

Diaz is perhaps worth more than the two prospects.

:rolleyes::eek:

Very interested. There is a remote possibility that Bruce bounces back to a 1.5-2 WAR player, but still...

The Mariners must believe Cano is going to be pure garbage without PED's - or maybe they know he's going to just take them again and could be a high risk of getting caught? Could that be the X factor here?

If its true that Mariners are shipping 60M to the mets then this is a good trade for the Mets. Lets assume that Diaz + the 3 prospects is a wash (Maybe a bit of an over pay but not much). That leaves Cano on 5 years for 60M averaging 12M per year, i would bet that the Mariners could get most of that value out of him.

Mariners are really dropping a deuce this off season.

Just when it looked like Dipoto was going to take GMBVW to the cleaners in his first ever trade...

Dipoto gon' Dipoto.

I've never seen a developing trade swing so far from one direction to the other. Like, less than 12 hours between laughing at the Mets for making a terrible trade to laughing at the Mariners.

Are you surprised though with Jerry Dipoto at the helm.

If by "massive" you mean "pathetic", then perhaps

It's the Wilpons. Pathetic doesn't even begin to describe them.

Jeff McNeil is getting a lot of love during these rumours. I can almost feel his DDL value getting higher.

Are you looking to move him? Let's have a discussion.

The Mariners just dealt Alex Colome to the White Sox for Omar Narvaez.

This seems like a pretty stupid deal for the White Sox but I guess it means they're comfortable with having Zack Collins for the future. First Mariners deal I've kind of liked for them.

Excellent decision.

If i played fantasy baseball i would be all over him right now.

Especially leagues that use OBP. Highest BB% in AA, paired with 70 grade power. Pretty much Adam Dunn if he was a catcher.

I think he's more like Robinson Chirinos if he was a 1B.

Zack Collins offer coming your way in the LoD

Billy Hamilton getting non-tendered.

I want to see an outfield of LF Pillar CF Kiermeier RF Hamilton on some team

No fly balls will ever hit the ground

I'm very surprised that there were no takers for Hamilton at a projected salary of $6M. Deployed properly (starting a few times a week against weak RHP, used as a pinch runner and defensive replacement) he's pretty much a lock to contribute 1-2 wins. Absolutely perfect 4th OF.

I want to see Hamilton at Coors and set a record for inside-the-park home runs

They should be all over him. He's a great fit for that cavernous OF.

Unreal.

Meh Pillar is a better player.

Yes, but Pillar and Grichuk are the only viable MLB outfielders in the org right now.

I can live with McKinney, Pillar and Grichuk in the OF in a rebuilding year. There are other potential guys but they won't be good defenders.

There's no real need for Hamilton. I want to see as many young guys playing as possible even if they suck.

There's so much room though. The team is going to need significant PAs from at least 5 OFs this year.

CF - Pillar

RF - Grichuk

LF - McKinney

4th - Hamilton

I don't have any interest whatsoever in seeing Hernandez patrol the OF again next year.

I think its worth getting Hamilton and then trading Pillar

Avisail Garcia non-tendered. I could see us picking him up. There was interest in him dating back to 2016.
