Lol, hard to refute that. I'm sure all the teams in the postseason were probably cheating, but I'm not surprised Boston would be after they got caught last year with the watch controversy. I doubt they stopped, just got better at not getting caught.

That's his glove hand too! Can you imagine how sticky his pitching hand must be?

Probably loads up his glove hand and dabs it with his left hand before every pitch.

stupid flimsy trophy

Some piece of trash Boston fan threw a beer can and broke several flags on the World Series trophy.

Apparently throwing beer cans at celebrating teams is a tradition in Boston.... I know, I couldn’t believe it either.

May the new curse begin in Boston. No WS win for another 86 years.

May the city of racist, ignorant louts with no self-awareness forever be cursed with a President they don't like.

Knowing Boston, that fan was probably aiming for one of the black players on the team but hit the trophy by accident.

Innocent mistake.

I'm a bit confused. When Hamels was traded, the Rangers agreed to cover Hamel's $6M buyout (if he was bought out). Now the Cubs want to keep him, so the Rangers have agreed to "take" Smyly and his $7M contract (instead of having to pay the $6M buyout)?

Smyly has potential to be really good - he was throwing flames before needing TJS. Instead of just gifting the Cubs $6M in cash, they now get Smyly? That's a huge win for them IMO.

The medicals on Smyly must be s*** or something and nobody thinks he'll be of any value...

yup that's about it. Doesn't sound like the Cubs could take the option unless they moved some money around, so it was a unique situation. Only 1 year left on each pitcher.

Cubs get Hamels at $20M - $7M they "save" on Smyly's deal.

Rangers get Smyly for only $1M more than they were potentially on the hook for with the Hamel's buyout.

Cubs get some more certain innings on a pitcher they like. Rangers get an arm with some potential (those HR's tho)

That deal makes perfect sense to me. The Cubs have a lot better use for $7M than a pitcher coming off TJS who would slot #6 in their rotation.

Indians unlikely to make QO to Michael Brantley according to Buster Olney.

I would be all over Brantley if I was Shatkins. Exactly what we need for the outfield.

For me, the alternative was to trade him for a lottery ticket prospect in a salary dump move. I guess they decided they couldn't trade Smyly at $7M for anything.

Exactly? Meh.

Any guesses on the contract?

I'm going to go with 5 years 150 million.

Gross. Kershaw is possibly not even a star SP anymore given the velocity drop and limited arsenal. I'm expecting a Felix level drop off in production for this guy.
