A new law in Ontario came into affect in January 2017 banning random carding of people...as white dude you had the privilege to walk around Toronto without being harrased by a cop, I can do that now too when I come for a couple jay's and raptor games.

Perhaps you are right for some positions. For routine jobs (eg. sales clerk), studies show that whites have a higher response rate.

That is true, sales positions are an exception. I think that probably has to do with communication skills (native English speakers are better at sales when dealing primarily with English speaking communities obviously). I don't think that has much to do with race other than language skills which no one can really do anything about. Either you speak the language well or you don't.

What wrong with having a diverse staff team? I work in place dominated by males and love seeing females hired more often as long they are qualified for the job...I don't think anyone should be given anything but if you have two people that are both qualified for the position and one person adds something different (race,sex,bilingual etc) then you already have they might help make your staff team much better!

Of course I agree with you. The point is white people don't have any advantage when applying for jobs. If anything the opposite is true.

I don't think anyone here is villifying white people. does systemic racism exist? Of course man...I work in the Justice system and often see people of colour or diffferent ethnicity getting harsher fines/sentences then white people who have committed the same crime. Sometimes that has to do with the white/masculine dude having more income to get a good defensive lawyer

Females dont get paid less, they earn less. We live in a world were companies are making massive cuts to their bottom line and people are getting paid less than they ever have.

If females truly got paid less for the same work you can bet every company out there is going to be taking advantage of this arbitrage and will hire exclusively females at which point the demand for females is going to strip the supply, forcing wages up.

Ugh, white privilege is such a myth. Minorities have way more privilege than white people, and especially in America the vast majority of the 1% are Asian. So I guess they should check their Asian privilege. Anything white and masculine these days is considered a bad thing. So sick of it.

Anyone who cares about the races of their co-workers is an idiot. Race has absolutely nothing to do with how skilled you are, and it has nothing to do with your character. No staff ever improved because they had lots of different skin colours and to even suggest that shows a poor understanding of how the world works.

I bet your familiar with all the instances of blacks being shot by police, yet you can’t name one out of the thousands of black on black homicides every year that happen in the US.

 

White people get killed by police all the time too.

 

I was jumped and robbed in the middle of the night by 5 black men, so boohoo to you and your uncomfortable feelings.

 

If your getting bothered by the police on a regular basis then your the problem.

 

Racism is everywhere because you make it that way. You are absolute proof of that in this thread.

 

Stroman was criticized because of his behaviour and his character and you went and made it a race issue. You could have taken a step back, looked at the facts of why we are saying he is a douchebag and maybe come to a different conclusion. Instead you keep hurling racism this racism that.
