jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 You mean the 25th, 29th (Wallace was the 27th) & 81st prospects in baseball? (per BA 2010 rankings) BA prospect rankings are everything! All those 3 became great players right? No way the Cards are trading Reyes or Weaver, both who will contribute in 2018 at the MLB level just for one year of JD. Also, MLB players like Gyorko who is valuable in his own right as well.
xposbrad Verified Member Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 But outside of power hes useless. Hopefully someone else signs him. The mets couldn't even flip him at the deadline..Not sure why the Jays would take him, they need guys they could deal and get some value back when they are out of it.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Bruce posted a 118 wRC+ last year and 2.7 WAR I presume many think he won't likely do rhat again?? That would have been a huge improvement over Bautista last year
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Lol The internet thinks it's so smart. I'm getting ads for Bruce Auto Group when I'm on the forum now LOL
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Yeah but he has only 1 year left on his contract. Reyes or Weaver are young controllable arms with some nice upside, Gyorko is coming off a 2.5 WAR season, can play multiple positions & is under club control still until 2020 on a decent contract. Grichuk and Piscotty are meh though still can be decent OF options considering the Jays OF is pretty bad right now lol. I think St. Louis is likely the best fit in terms of a team that could put together a package for JD. Though if this was reversed, I'm sure many people would be saying on here that JD isn't worth that type of package unless he came with an extension. Look at when the Jays traded Halladay back in 2009 to the Phillies. He was the best pitcher in baseball at the time available on the trade market. Phillies even got an extension, and all the Jays got were Drabek, Taylor flipped for Wallace flipped for Gose, and d'Arnaud. Ala Henderson Alvarez? Donaldson is for real; AllStar caliber 3B with great makeup and clubhouse present. He's a true Cardinal

All I'm saying is they got 3 highly regarded prospects for Doc. Are prospects a risk and do they bust often? Of course, but we got some value for Doc (FWIW - TDA jumped to #36 overall in 2011). If you're simply going to look at the results of that trade and claim they got zero for him - and - based on that, claim we won't get anything for JD - then I'll disengage in his conversation because you're a putz.
Maahfaace Verified Member Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Trade JD asap, he's a high risk candidate to have committed sexual misconduct at some point in his life with these new lofty liberal standards. So far the sports world has largely been left alone, no longer will that be the case. A s*** storm along the s*** winds is brewing my friends.
Ehjays Verified Member Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 The Blue Jays are engaging with multiple starters and relievers, GM Ross Atkins told Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet and other reporters Monday. They “will most likely add an infielder,” too, and are looking at outfielders, Atkins said Other teams have asked about wide range of #BlueJays. "We have a lot of good players," Atkins said. "There aren't many players that don't get talked about, there really aren't" Oh god, Just heard something that Atkins still hasn't ruled out bringing GOINS back.
xposbrad Verified Member Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 He got traded to Cleveland Right, but they couldn't move him before the non-waiver deadline, they got a nothing reliever for him at the end. He has little value to most clubs, otherwise they would have dumped him before. They just wanted to get rid of his salary at that point.

I love the part where Warren Sapp sent the wardrobe stylist sex toys for Christmas - 3 years in a row.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Moose, Longoria and Machado are all going to change teams and we'll lose a f*** ton of leverage in trading Donaldson. In that case, just re-sign him. Not paying anyone in a couple years anyway. Honestly, this is starting to look like a very real possibility, or at least a desirable one from the Jays end, which I didn't think was the case a few months ago. If the team isn't going to trade him, for whatever reason, then just extend him for five years, live with the declining years, and continue the water treading from there until Vladdy and Bo come up.

Trade him now or extend him Letting him walk after next season for a second round draft pick is the only wrong thing to do if you can possibly avoid it
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 I wouldn't mind signing Seung Hwan Oh. He shouldn't cost a lot and there's a chance he rebounds significantly.

Hindsight much, bro... An elite 3rd baseman like JD should easily fetch, a prospect coming off TJS in Reyes and Gyrko? Regardless if he has one year on his contract.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Brunt on Tim & Sid suggesting the Jays could deal Bichette in a Ozuna/Yelich trade.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Brunt on Tim & Sid suggesting the Jays could deal Bichette in a Ozuna/Yelich trade. He's not wrong, depends on the specifics.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 He's not wrong, depends on the specifics. Who do you prefer from the two?
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Who do you prefer from the two? How can that even be a question? I love the idea of Ozuna, but Yelich is in a different tier (plus controllable/under contract for 5 years)
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Brunt on Tim & Sid suggesting the Jays could deal Bichette in a Ozuna/Yelich trade. Seems fair for Yelich, but I wouldn't do it, nor do I think our FO would.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Spanky says Jays aren't moving JD. Just meeting with Cards for fun.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 I'm really hoping JD gets dealt before the season starts
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Jays met with CC.....not wanting any of that at all
glory Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 CC on a short term deal would be fine with me. The Fa market sucks. He might end up being one of the better valued guys out there. Either way, the Yankees saved money, so chances are they will bring him back unless they prefer trading prospects for a young starter with more control.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Cubs sign Smyly 2/10M... 7M incentives?

Would be a great fit. Hope its happens but expecting New York or Anaheim.
