Jays will need probably 2 additional pitchers at Least as good as, if not better than Stroman if they want to contend.

 

And that's not a knock on Stroman, just a fact of life in baseball these days. A 4 WAR ace just isn't good enough.

 

If Sanchez can be healthy, maybe he's one of them, but any thoughts of contention you just need that guy that's in the 6+ WAR area

Maybe not, but having Tulo and Martin already on the books really limits what you can do, plus you can pretty much guarantee JD will only get 1 chance at free agency and won't be letting it go by without shopping around.

Martin might not actually just be dead weight though at least, unlike Tulo. As someone said previously, you could back load JDs contract till after at least tulo is off the books.
