No one really expects Toronto to win the sweepstakes though. So we'll find out what we already know :)

 

Lots of people kept saying the Jays had a good chance. No. They never did.

Pick the NL, Ohtani. If the Jays want to aim for the 2nd WC in 2018, then the Mariners getting him would hurt the Jays chances.

The Jays will be closer to the bottom of the standings than they will be the wild card

I'm telling you all....we will get Ohtani. We are a small "market" team in a "large" city. With a fan base that reaches from coast to coast and where Ohtani can spend the offseason anywhere from the west coast to the east or in the States. So many options and we are in need of a star...especially one lime Ohtani that would instantly put us in title contention. We will be top 3 I think

More people said the Yankees were going to sign him, and it turns out he wanted a team that was the exact opposite.

 

In other words, no one had a f'n clue what he was going to do. He never specified which location he preferred, or what type of team he wanted to sign with, etc. You could have been a Twins fan and said there was a chance and you wouldn't have been wrong.

I'd love this to be true, but I'm guessing we see a tweet fairly soon saying the Jays are also out

well if we do somehow get a rose and get a second date it wouldn't hurt to show some video of crowd in the Mariners vs the Jays from last year when the Mariners hosted the Jays!

He seems to want to forge his own path without being compared to other Japanese players. I have to think that will hurt the Mariners chances (Ichiro), even though they've made it to the next round.

It's possible, but for how long we have recruited him (the longest I believe), the relationship we already have, some of his reported "fits", the ability we have to let him play OF, DH, and pitch, and given the demographics of the city and truly huge fan base from coast to coast. We have a better chance that "a lot" of the teams
