Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 Dustin Pedroia tried to downplay this, like the rat-faced bastard he is: http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/20609320/dustin-pedroia-boston-red-sox-insists-sign-stealing-part-game "I mean, it's baseball, man." "We're here to play baseball games," Pedroia said. "We've got a 3½ game lead in our division. Other than that, nobody gives a s---. We're trying to win baseball games." He sounds like he's not a very smart person.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 Hahahaha, and wonderful timing for Apple too, less than a week until their keynote where they're going to unveil new devices! Talk about free PR. Since Baseball has recently been one of the better adopters of tech in sports, I fully expect Boston to only get a slap on the wrist for this, it would go against the commish's plans if he puts a ban of some electronics

Talk about free PR. Since Baseball has recently been one of the better adopters of tech in sports, I fully expect Boston to only get a slap on the wrist for this, it would go against the commish's plans if he puts a ban of some electronics The electronics ARE banned in the dugouts already, but I guess smart watches slipped through. It's actually kinda fortunate that the Boston people involved are idiots. Rather than sending messages and looking at the screen, they could have used vibrations and no one would have caught them. You can pretty much guarantee that the rules will be updated this offseason to allow heavy punishments, etc (or simply allow it, but allow pitcher and catcher to speak to each other via little ear bud or something like in football). I'd love to see them embrace electronics more, but not at the expense of the game itself.
