This all started by me expressing my hatred/frustration with Morales. He's been pretty f***ing terrible. I'm sure a search would reveal many, players providing at least league avg production for near league min. Carry on with the hive like attack over a guy performing at JPA levels though.

 

What f***ing attack? And no you can't find guys at near league min to produce at Morales' level at DH. If you do they'd cost quite a bit. We don't have that player.

How many of those are a) easily acquirable (not a rookie), B) willing to dh, c) still have a positive WAR after you take into account the big negative adjustment that DHs suffer?

 

Hell, of the guys available on the FA list next year, how many do you think would sign for less than Morales did per year to be a full time DH, and produce positive WAR? There's always gonna be guys who suddenly break out like LoMo, but that doesn't mean you'll be lucky enough to find one. We got really lucky with Smoak.

 

Of the guys on this team, Carrera MIGHT be able to put up positive WAR as a DH (with the added benefit of not seeing him throw to the wrong base).

Looking at only DH's isn't a good argument. You can find a 97 wRC+ bat on the scrap heap and put him at DH, not that we should replace Morales.

Agreed, I really don't care to have a dedicated DH, especially when you have a team full of old folks who need regular rest days in order to get out of bed.

You don't want to accept that Morales could be better than he has been, and you're entitled to have that opinion - no matter how uneducated it may be. I'm not going to attempt to persuade you on this, because it's clear to me that you're firmly of the belief that he's old and therefore declining (which is true), with absolutely no wiggle room. All I did was merely point out that there's a legitimate reason for optimism, which you evidently took personally for some reason and decided to launch an attack. My post wasn't even directed towards you at all, nor was its intent to be malicious or offensive - in fact, it was meant to be quite the opposite.

 

You are clearly looking for an argument, and I'm not about to be the guy to humour you.

I told you it's virtually impossible unless we had a stud bat, you said they could be found by a search, I did that and that's no good... what do you want me to do, pull him out of my ass?!?! This was your argument, who would provide more value than Kendrys at near league min? TELL US!
