Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Yankees trade Refsnyder to Blue Jays for McBroom
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Goodbye Goldy 2.0 Hello Refsynder 1.0
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Both of these players really suck. And yet they get their own thread.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Hey look on the bright side he's only 26!
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 It's probably just to get Pentecost into AA and move some other guys up.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 this is what happens when Boxy wins the "take over as GM for a day" contest. I think Refsnyder is a fine type of guy to target. Out of options next year and competes for a utility role. He's shown in the minors that he can hit for average and draw a walk. I can't say for sure if he plays everywhere cause he isn't good enough at any position or he plays everywhere cause he's a great athlete. If it's because he's an athlete I like the deal.

We basically gave up someone who would probably never be called up, for someone who might actually provide some use for us. Hard to dislike it.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 He has to be better and offer more upside than Ryan Goins, right?
Melvin Verified Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 He has to be better and offer more upside than Ryan Goins, right? Not really. They both suck and shouldn't be rostered on a contender.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Not really. They both suck and shouldn't be rostered on a contender. Is this team a contender right now?
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Is this team a contender right now? At this rate, we could be for the #1 pick.
Melvin Verified Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Is this team a contender right now? Wasn't calling this team a contender. But that's ultimately the goal of playing the game, to contend. Otherwise, Gurriel should just earn his stripes in the majors taking Goins' role and Refsnyder should go f*** a goat.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 Scrub for scrub! But the scrub we got can play more than First Base!
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 Hello Refsynder 1.0 Kawasaki 2.0
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 Refsnyder is significantly better than McBroom, who is a true org player. Guys like Refsnyder turn into surprisingly productive MLB players all the time. Of course he probably won't, but at least he's interesting.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 Refsnyder can't be worse than Goins. Mcbroom is nothing interesting

Even sucking he is a better hitter in mlb than Goins or Barney. He could be better than he has shown so far. No idea about the defense. Maybe he sucks a lot at that.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 Ref's defence graded out pretty well in the outfield in 2016, though in a small sample size (158 innings). Doesn't look like much of an infielder but maybe there's some potential in the outfield. It's a shot in the dark but why the f not at this point?
MunenoriKawasakiMVP Verified Member Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Refsnyder in one at bat did more than McBroom will ever do. Clutch double
