BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 You know how long I have been a Jays fan, and this is the very first time I do NOT like this team. Even when they were perennial third place, I liked the team and the players. Too many players that I would not have. But this is the team we have. I hope that Shapiro does a better job than he has done this year when he starts the rebuild. Kind of feel the same about this squad Leaffie and it's not just the record.
leaffie Verified Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Right, and why did the powers that be, not see that and go and get a #5 starter and keep him where he was the most successful.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 When you have already won the first 2 games of series in the other teams house and including blowing them out on Canada Day, you don't need to use tricks to try to win. It's not like we have Cy Young out there on the mound. If you're bunting and stealing in a blowout, then it's a problem. In a closer game, there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. The Red Sox are and should be doing everything they can to win the game, and unfortunately we're not adapting to it.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Management's biggest challenge will be trying to rid themselves from the Tulo and the Martin contracts. Hopefully they can pull off the same magic AA did when unloading Vernon Wells. Martin's been worth every penny thus far and some, as has Tulo up to this season, those extended years will be hard to move.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Can't say I find them very entertaining or fun to watch. Gonna be a looooooong summer.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 What part of IT HELPS, don't you get? ok, if a man is starving and drowning, sending him some food would help, but if you don't get him out of the water he's still going to drown. what part of irrelevant do you not understand?
rancher Verified Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 If you need a definition of "ineptitude", don't bother looking it up in the dictionary, just tune into the to the Blue Jays games and watch the Jays try to play baseball. Great display of it in action.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Right, and why did the powers that be, not see that and go and get a #5 starter and keep him where he was the most successful. They had 5 starters, now depth is a different story. Biagini did start out in the pen.

I've said the offense has underwhelmed, it's the reason we're in this position aside from our SP taking a step back.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Can't say I find them very entertaining or fun to watch. No. When older slower expensive bashers aren't, it's disappointing. And the rotation health and performance 2016 was too good to expect to repeat. Our pen was always light for our division. Joe smith and smoak have been bright spots as well as osuna bounce back from tough start.
Effit Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 The most depressing thing of all for me is watching JD do absolutely nothing.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Can we put up a crooked number, please!
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 The most depressing thing of all for me is watching JD do absolutely nothing. Should be on the DL.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 lol... I've said the offense has underwhelmed, it's the reason we're in this position aside from our SP taking a step back. This years team is 2 and 5 record next week from being a seller. There just isn't enough to build on for this year so they should get some parts to use with the core they have and get the team younger for next year. I don't think they need to blow things up, but they definitely need to cull the heard of it's weak and broken down.

Naw, I don't think they should have done whatever it takes to win and sweep us on our Canada Day weekend, especially with the Yankees fading and their hold on 1st in the division starting to solidify. It's ok, karma has a way of taking care of these things. I wouldn't be surprised to see them s*** the bed in the ALDS again. Will be easy to cheer for whoever is up against them (even if it is the Rangers who I loathe).
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 The most depressing thing of all for me is watching JD do absolutely nothing. For the last 10 games, yes. Speaking of which... Kendrys has scuffled these last 2 series too.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 2, 2017 Author Posted July 2, 2017 I have never seen an entire MLB team so incompetent at hitting pitches right down the middle

Jays players are spending enough time feeling sorry for themselves. same goes for a lot of the fans.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Should be on the DL. Was thinking this, his knee, right?

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Well, to be fair, when I made my last GDT I noted it's must win time, if we continue to reel off losses this team will not stand pat, and likely sell. This years team is 2 and 5 record next week from being a seller. There just isn't enough to build on for this year so they should get some parts to use with the core they have and get the team younger for next year.
