I think he could have but it was risky so ultimately he made the smart/safe play. Also very little time to make a decision.

Holy s*** watching Liriano pitch is torture. Dude has no command more times than not, at least this season. Was hoping for "good Liriano" this year so he could GTFO and get his cash this winter, but I guess not.
