There were times I didn't think Goins was a big leaguer. I don't think he's an every day player, but he's definitely a big leaguer. He's a solid utility infielder.

I would start Barney because he has the better bat and the difference in defense isn't relevant enough to be a deciding factor. If Travis doesn't work out or gets hurt, i'd start Barney four out of seven games to start and then possibly tweak it based on performance.

It was like when Doug Flutie was on the Buffalo Bills, the team won with Flutie even though Rob Johnson looked like more of an NFL quarterback than Flute. Flutie had heart and did what it took to win, so does Goins.
