z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 that was a cool article, and one I'd never thought about as a fan who doesn't live near an MLB city. I'm never in the decks because I splurge on good seats when I have the opportunity to go to a game. Really interesting to see the differences in different parks.
ChrisS Verified Member Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 I didn't read the whole thing, but I dont agree with his premise about the upper level being closer to the field. All that does is create an overhang for the 100 level which turns great seats into garbage. If you've ever sat row 10-12 in the 100 level outfield at RC you'll know how brutal the overhang can be. You completely lose any ball thats put in the air. I refuse to sit in those seats now I agree, I hate those seats. The bottom line is that its not feasible to have 50000 people, no obstructed view seats and everyone 60 feet from the field.
ChrisS Verified Member Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 The only way this ever happens within the next three decades is if Rogers sells the Dome property to some developers for a quadrillion dollars (after buying the thing for $25 million) and uses part of the profits to build a new stadium (and better not be one penny of taxpayer funds). Outside of that, this thing is going to stand there until it is at least 50 years old and there's a legit reason to replace it. I was under the impression Rogers owns the stadium but the city owns the land. I personally feel its stupid to spend $400 million to update a stadium that is already outdated.

IMO they've been spot on with the renovations done to date and I look forward to seeing the finished product.
