wk680 Verified Member Posted April 28, 2017 Posted April 28, 2017 They'd have to go 78 and 62 (.558 clip) the rest of the way to hit 84 wins. It's definitely possible, but so far I haven't seen any signs of this team playing over .500 level ball. They would need to have a pretty awesome May and June for Shatkins to not blow this thing up, I just can't see it right meow. I do hope I'm wrong, enjoyed the meaningful late season baseball so much these last few years. If it is an 84 win team over 162 games (.519) and they win at that rate over the remaining 140 games, that would give a total of 78-79 wins. This season is looking more and more like a write-off as far as chances to make the post season. So, the assessment needs to be done by the FO on their chances of rebounding in 2018 with a re-tooling that includes some shrewd trades and a better job with free agency in the coming off-season than they did this past one. If not, then they may go for a more thorough overhaul (the 'blow it up' option).

wk680 Verified Member Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 Anyone want to change their answer? I am going to predict the Jays remain under .500 and then FINALLY win to get to .500 in game 162 to finish 81-81.

Omar Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 The only reason to want a 50 win season is to watch the Rogers shills squirm trying to put a positive spin on things. "If the Jays win 50 of the next 51 games they can still secure a wildcard spot."
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 A 70-75 win season should result in the same outcome of selling at the deadline for a quick rebuild while having a passable product the rest of the season
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
