gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 This is the medical term for a neck muscle strain. Often caused by simple things such as a strenuous workout, pore posture, etc. It could be the consequence of a more serious downstream injury to the shoulder but this is unlikely. I guess this would be directly connected with his decreased velocity this spring. I guess this is better than something directly wrong with his elbow/shoulder. He probably didn't mention it thinking it would probably correct itself by opening day. He'll be fine.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 Time to get concerned about Osuna. - Always been high injury risk (previously had tjs) - Elbow flared up in postseason last year - Got rocked in spring training and wbc - Team turning off the radar gun to not publicize his now low 90s fastball velo Now he has a torn back pussy.
FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 Never sold on who? Osuna? Lol Correct, like Lawrie, Hutch and also Stroman. It would be nice to see one of them make me incorrect when their careers are over. By the way, it looks like Biagini will close in Osunas absence.

Osuna has been incredible, shut up with your nonsense.

Stroman and Osuna have been everything we could have hoped for back when they were acquired.

Yes on the surface this seems like a less concerning issue than an arm issue. But I seem to recall Jordan Zimmerman missing some time last season with a neck muscle issue and being awful upon his return (after having had a great start to the season). Osuna may also have other issues besides the neck, but that is just the one they are actually reporting. So we'll just need to cross our fingers.

Gary Verified Member Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 Per Jon Morosi: #BlueJays are considering Joe Biagini as an option to close during Roberto Osuna's absence, in addition to Jason Grilli. @MLBNetwork @MLB

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 Jason Grilli is the natural choice in the 9th. I hope they plan to use Biagini in a multi inning role.
