Clutchlings Verified Member Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 That Jays From Away guy is pretty good. Wish I could take photos like him.
Clutchlings Verified Member Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Thanks for the Pentecost and Palacios updates, Spats! Info on Extended can be very hard to come by - Gil Kim usually responds to my texts and/or emails, but he was quiet on this one.

spats Verified Member Posted April 17, 2017 Author Posted April 17, 2017 No sign of Pentecost at the complex today...hopefully he'll be catching tonight for Dunedin. Gurriel played today, not sure of his timetable or placement, although he's listed on the Dunedin roster. Will report after the game tonight.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 Ernie Whitt is still with the organization? Isn't he the guy who went off on Wilner after he got fired?

spats Verified Member Posted April 18, 2017 Author Posted April 18, 2017 Pentecost did not catch tonight ( DH). I wonder if he still needs more work or he may be alternating with Jansen who is on fire.Tale of 2 Boruckis tonight. First 4 innings he was lights out, striking out a ton with an incredible slider and a 92-94 mph fastball topping out at 96. Had an error behind him in the 5th and it seemed to unnerve him..got hit hard in the 5th and 6th. I'm really starting to like Juan Kelly..he really battles at the plate fouling off a number of pitches his second at bat before lining a double into the gap. Btw, Pentecost should have had better results at the plate..hit a bullet to right fielder and next at bat put one on the roof behind the bullpen just foul opposite field. Would have been one of the longest homeruns I've seen at Florida Exchange.
spats Verified Member Posted April 19, 2017 Author Posted April 19, 2017 Pentecost catching tonight in Dunedin.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 Pentecost catching tonight in Dunedin. How's he look?
spats Verified Member Posted April 19, 2017 Author Posted April 19, 2017 How's he look? They stole second twice but Romano was responsible for one of them, not holding the runner close. The game went into extra innings and I left after the ninth... Jansen came into the game to replace Max. From what I saw, he looked good behind the plate but i'm no catching expert.
sdyment Verified Member Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 Anybody surprising caught your eye during the start of the season? Thanks for all of these reports Spats, but tbh, it sounds like you've got it made
spats Verified Member Posted April 19, 2017 Author Posted April 19, 2017 Anybody surprising caught your eye during the start of the season? Thanks for all of these reports Spats, but tbh, it sounds like you've got it made Thanks for the kind words. Retirement is treating me well. I love coming down here in April to watch Dunedin Jays and extended spring.Girlfriend heads back tomorrow , so I can spend more time at the parks. Not much to watch at extended now that Pentecost has been reinstated with Dunedin and Palacios is in Lansing. I'm not familiar with some of the players from the DSL but if there's someone you can think of, let me know and I'll keep an eye out for them. Gurriel is the only one I want to watch right now. As for the start of the Dunedin season, other than Pentecost, it would be Juan Kelly. He never gives up an at bat..always working the pitcher. Don't how he projects however...he is short for a 1st baseman and the Jays don't need another DH type. Jansen is also having a great year and Biggio shows some promise. Will see Zeuch tomorrow night.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 I noticed Biggio's had a rough start to the year. You've liked what you've seen?

King Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 Mc Gregory Contreras Yorman Rodriguez Joseph Reyes - top 2016 IFA
spats Verified Member Posted April 20, 2017 Author Posted April 20, 2017 I remember those 2 names now. Will keep an eye out for them.
spats Verified Member Posted April 20, 2017 Author Posted April 20, 2017 Joseph Reyes - top 2016 IFA I saw Reyes the other day but was watching Pentecost and Gurriel on another diamond...just noticed how big he looked. Will spend more time following him. Thanks.
sdyment Verified Member Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 Just saw something about Gurriel leaving the game early tonight. Everything ok?
spats Verified Member Posted April 20, 2017 Author Posted April 20, 2017 Looks like I missed a good game tonight in Dunedin. Gurriel finally playing with the Baby Jays. Pentecost, Biggio and Kelly continue to hit...Perdomo with a good outing. Looking forward to watching Zeuch tomorrow.

metafour Verified Member Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 First game. Probably was always going to get pulled. No, there is a tweet stating that he pulled up running to first base before being taken out.
spats Verified Member Posted April 20, 2017 Author Posted April 20, 2017 No, there is a tweet stating that he pulled up running to first base before being taken out. He was at extended due to a hamstring injury...maybe reinjured it. Really want to see him play a bit before I leave.
spats Verified Member Posted May 4, 2017 Author Posted May 4, 2017 Big surprise today at extended spring. Sanchez was throwing a bullpen sessions under many watchful eyes...staff and some of the young players. Threw quite a few pitches but unfortunately, he was in a restricted area, so didn't get a close look.
spats Verified Member Posted May 4, 2017 Author Posted May 4, 2017 Mc Gregory Contreras Yorman Rodriguez Saw both of these players today at extended spring.Only saw Contreras once and he laid down a sacrifice bunt...almost beat it out. Rodriguez is a beast...pretty agile for a big man at first...hit a double in the gap the only at bat I saw. They were on different diamonds, so it's hard to catch everything. The most impressive guy out there today was Mitch Nay who scalded the ball twice..maybe there's still hope. Will catch them again in Clearwater on Sat before heading North.

Mitch Nay still plays baseball. There's something I didn't know. Thanks for the updates Spats.
